390 hp in a light neon will beat 338 hp in a heavy 'bird.
If that 390 hp is before nitrous, you're screwed. If it's after nitrous, then tell him to leave it off the car, or add a little giggle gas to your car.

Thats a lot of horsepower for a front wheel drive car. Also the tires on those things are only 215 series so they are not very wide. There is no way he will be able to put that kind of power to the ground from a dead stop he will just smoke his tires or his clutch. Plus those cars have a real low first gear which will not help him. It will also depend on how good of a driver he is. Race from a stop and if it is a short race you could probably win. If it is a long race you will probably take him from the line but he will catch you in the end even if he is a crappy driver.

390 is with the spray. and the 338 like my signature says is with a badly slipping transmission (revs up about 700 rpms before shifting), a non lockup converter and the stock 9 bolt rear end. In other words Wgripp do you think any of those three are holding back any power left in the car?

390 in a light car is going to be hard to beat.
Hope that he has a 'tard moment and botches the launch or hope he spits out a half shaft when launches

Re: 385 hsr vs 05 srt 4
without spray he is at 280-290 to the wheels...thats almost a 50 hp difference between me and him....then again he is about 400-500 pounds lighter....
Re: 385 hsr vs 05 srt 4
an 05 srt has a limited slip, but they still don't have traction (at my last autocross I actually outran a modded srt-4 with my stock 92 RS). But, if he has slicks, he will have enough traction to beat you. There is still the possibility of him missing a gear, etc. 500lbs of weight loss is generally 5/10 of a sec in a quarter, right? (i think thats right). I think your traction could make up for that, especially of your old tranny really hurt your dyno.
