my camaro vs a 2004 crossfire

i have a 91 camaro with a 350tpi from an 87 GTA. 10k miles on a rebuild, same with tranny. transmission has a shift kit and i believe a high rev torque converter.. all i know is it kicks pretty hard and spins the tires when shifting into second and sometimes third. its a basicly stock tpi.. has aftermarket holley throttle body, slp runners, k&n air filter, 3" exhaust from cat back(no headers yet) to a flowmaster muffler. and whatever gear ratio a stock 1991 v6 3.1L came equiped with.

his car is totally stock and i believe its a supercharged v6 or something.. its a 2004 Crossfire

what do you guys think?

Re: my camaro vs a 2004 crossfire

If it's a regular Crossfire it's a NA V6 with around 215 HP. R&T got a 14.8 with the manual version.
The SRT6 is the super charged version and auto only but 330 HP, R&T got a 13.5 out of it.
Traction is going ot hurt you since you still have the V6 rear with an open differential.

Re: my camaro vs a 2004 crossfire

I'd say it would be a close race against the non super charged version. Also a lot of "car guys" don't know their *** from their elbow when it comes down to it, so he may not have a clue what the engine is.
*note.. i'm not a big Chrysler fan and I got that info from the Road and Track article. They stated in their test that it was a shame it only came with an automatic and not a 6 speed like the regular Crossfire.. so there's a chance the info is incorrect. Just ask to check out the engine and it should be pretty obvious if it's got a supercharger.

Re: my camaro vs a 2004 crossfire

well.. the car was a 6 speed and it did have a supercharger.. guess it was a custom order.. very nice car.. very quick... and i am glad to say that my car keept up with him very well going down route 5 in east windsor from light to light, we are going to try again for a longer run... and try it on 384 or something. but overall i think the car would end up taking off on the highway he says he can get up to 100mph in 4th gear. was def a fun first main race with my car. (also i have a bad exhaust leak at both manifolds, needs a tune, spark plugs and an oil change)

Re: my camaro vs a 2004 crossfire

IF it's a 2004 and IF it's supercharged and it has a manual gearbox, then it's got an aftermarket supercharger and it is not the SRT6. That said, there's no telling what sort of power it's actually making but I doubt it's putting out the 330HP that the factory SRT6 does. I say all this because the SRT6 didn't appear until the 2005 model year and definitely only with the automatic, never a manual. But does it have the Autostick programming in the tranny so you can, sort of, shift it yourself. Sort of.

The Crossfire is basically a Mercedes Benz SLK with a MB CLK front suspension and a modified S-Class rear suspension. Pop the hood and there are more MB logos than Chrysler logos. And, yes, the car is electronically limited to 150mph.

I have a 2005 Crossfire Roadster, non S/C, with the 6 speed manual. Fantastic car, super stiff chassis and handles beautifully. I've not taken it to a drag strip yet, and probably never will. Road course days are in its future though, no doubt about that!

auto 3.1 v6 cars(which is what he has) came with a 3.23 gear, not 3.08. but you are right about the manuals having 3.42's.

Re: my camaro vs a 2004 crossfire

His is complete custom. Srt6's are all automatic. With swapped out intake and pulley they should crank out 12.9 on the track. Listen for that high whirl sound and you'll know he swapped out the std. pulley. But since he swapped the engine on an '04 you know nothing is stock for him from the start. He'd probably get you in the curves if you guys found some place safe to run some.
