no no son, you should be fine! thats the 3g body style, N/A with the same motor from a dodge stratus 3.0 v6,infact very similar cars. if your lo3 is running right you should be okay, launching with a non posi isn't such an issue on those cars.

Run from a dig, and make sure your launch is dialed in, you should be able to holeshot him, and if the race is short enough, that might be enough. He's gonna pull you on top, but you should be able to yank him out of the hole.Originally Posted by 91 camaro rs

am i thinking of the same car???? i really don't think the 3g's are a threat to a thirdgen camaro! it's a low 17 to mid 16 second car if i'm not mistaken.

wait, looking at my last post things are dawning on me. yep it's possibly a close race.

thanks for the imput. the mitsubishi is an auto. it isn't the newest model, but the one before it

i ran one from a 20mph roll and i was at his front wheel the whole time, from a dig im pretty sure it would have been the opposite if not worse for him.

my cousin has a stock (with a CAI) mid 90's eclipse gt and I raced him once from a dig and rolling, and both times I destroyed him, but my 305 is TPI so I'm not sure how much more power TPI has over TBI...

We're talking about a 3G Eclipse, not a mid 90's, different car.Originally Posted by HCR13

The 2000+ (or whenever that newer, but not newest generation started) 5spd V6 models have 200hp, and are not very heavy, they are capable of high 14's stock with a competent driver. I would think an LO3 would have a difficult time matching that. They hit 90-92mph in the 1/4 stock, they run quite well from a roll, a dig is where they are weak. I'm sure the auto's are even worse of the line, so like I said, run from a dig, nail your launch, and make sure the race isn't over an 1/8th.

i NEVER thought they were that fast! 14's?? i knew the 1 and 2g's with AWD and turbo were basically two door lancer evolutions(killers), but the 3g's? wow that's a surprise! i'll have to rev on more of them!

The V6 models scoot along pretty good. They are relatively light, that is their big strength.Originally Posted by rockit

my friend had a 90? eclipse w/ turbo, I hated that car. we used to play around at the time i was driving my wifes 92 sunbird conv. 3.1 gt. almost same race your talking, under 1/4 mile a would pull all over him, but.. in the end he would smoke the sunbird.

honestly surprised you gave him a race, the ol dsm turbo cars have alot of potential for all their ghettoness, suppose they just got a ghetto stigma vs our hillbilly stigma though.
I know for a fact that the 2000 to 2004 4banger eclipse isn't that great of a car because my neighboor has one with an intake and exhaust and i've seen him launch and it isn't that great, my sister had a 99 RS 2.0 the year before they changed the body style and that has more power because she can spin wheels off the line and its auto. I've driven it several times and i know my camaro has a hard launch from a dig and from a roll along with a better acceleration rate..so i think you should be okay.

So because a car can spin off the line it has more power? Wow...there's some solid logic there.

Well this maybe news to ya'll but the j-2000 cars were the domestic response to the rice, just like ours the j-2000 cars are unloved by many and the 60 deg v-6 site is all over these cars just like 3rdgen.org on ours. Having driving a few auto or 5-spd I can tell ya that yes they have potential too.

sweet i never took em seriously.
What people don't understand is that it's our underdog status that makes this site work, in cunjunction with great mods.
