Think it might have been a 98 or 99 LS1 trans am. We were next to each other turning left then as soon as we both straightened out we both hit it. I stayed even with him through my second gear and when I shifted at about 4500 it was all over, as expected of course. Still fun fun, I need a cam 
Seeing as how the Fascist Commun-wealth of California wont allow you to change your heads to anything betters, I suggest you get a die a grinder and go to town on those heads.

If it is a true TBI motor, swap to vortecs. You would be amazed.
