Re: who would win?

the 5.0 no question, especially if it is the notchback. they weigh a great deal less than the hatches.

and yea, he should be in mid 14's

Hell beat you by atleast a second. He does have a slushbox so with a shift kit headers y pipe and 3 inch exhaust you might stand a chance.

He has a much lighter car with a much more performance oriented engine. If he had a 5 speed he might be able to pull off a high 13. In comparison your in the deep 15's atleast. This is assuming good running condition.

Computer chip = huge waste of money fyi. Spend some time on the boards, learn how to tune and youll have a good chance.

An automatic 5.0 in the hands of a 16 year old? That's low 15s at best. And it will still easily beat that TBI 305.

Re: who would win?

Well since you wont beat the 5.0 in a while (TBI, just wont do the job)

Start looking into suspension mods and get that thing riding like a caddy...well not quite like a caddy but better..ha ha. But yeah since your dad wont let you BEEF up the motor really just look into getting this thing corner carving and drag digging. Then maybe save some $$$ and look into a 350 swap with your DAD...NICE LITTLE PROJECT.

Re: who would win?

I am just wondering if it is a good idea that (2) 16 year old kids should be going out drag racing against each other. They aren't even old enough to attend drivers ed class yet. Which means they probably probably have a learners permit still.

Re: who would win?

YOU RIGHT...that does seem kind of bad,

I took Mid-Ohio's training course.

http://www.midohio.com/school.aspx

Took the teen defensive driving classes. Soon to take the adult classes and advanced defense classes around $1000 for the adult and advanced classes this summer 08.

Then there is performance classes and RACING classes...

This place is awesome...great people and GREAT teaching abilities...(not like school teachers who read a book and ask us for answers...) ha ha

Re: who would win?

Glad to see someone else agrees with me. I haven't officially taken any special courses except for Drivers Ed and DDC and have been driving for 30 years.. I do like to have fun but there is also a time and place for it. That is what most people don't realize where I live. Most younger generation drivers like to take it to the streets and that isn't the best option usually. I can speak from some experience as my friend was killed many many years ago by street drag racing as I was a passenger in the car. I will say, WE LOST!!! BIG TIME!!!!

My bolt on 5.0 with an auto went 14s when I was 16 years old. BONE STOCK with 2.73 highway gears at a crappy track it went 15.3 @ 90 when I was 15 years old. So a sluchbox bolt on 5.0 with ANY driver should go into the 14's. I speak from doing just that, not from what I think or hear!

The age doesn't matter with an automatic, my sister when she was 12 could have run faster times than me, she weighed less!

Re: who would win?

16. racing. on street? kinda scary. unless its at a strip lol
i have a 305 TBI. this doesnt go the way i like it to. you could get small simple add ons to make the engine to look alittle better. thats what i did anyways. made it look like an engine hehe. got rid of all the smog stuff since i dont have Air Care where i live. got rid of the Cat. i say make some good suspenion upgrades. and by the time your ready for a new engine. your suspesiion should be all ready to go for the new motor then youll be flying. you could also try to make the car alittle lighter in your sprare time.
