come to think about it he might get me since my tires aren't the best of shape.unless we do a 40mph roll then i shouldn't spin then.
new tires and slp runner's coming very soon, along with some other goodies..

Re: 88 iroc-z vs 01 mustang GT
That's just ignorant.
alpine247, rolling starts aren't really the L98's strong point. Get some good tires and take him from a dig and you should be able to out launch him.
With my L98, I've taken out a stock '96 GT with a 4.6 and a 5 speed (215 hp and 285 ft lb) from a dig. It was close, but I won. 2001's have a bit more power (260 hp and 300 ft lbs) Will his car be modified? Stock for stock, he'll probably edge you out in the top end. For low end power though, you'll have him if you have good tires.
How good of a driver is your friend?

Come on man, you're on a F-body site and you can't even spell Camaro right?
That's just ignorant.

idk if i can go from a dig without spinning, put it this way the owner before me went cheap and bought some 225/50/16 instead of getting 245.so pretty much i have to baby it to about 40mph then stomp.
probably not, well he might do the simple mods to it (intake, exhaust ect).
i guess he probably ok idk..

Re: 88 iroc-z vs 01 mustang GT
I own a 1998 mustang gt,they are the slowest of the mustangs.2001 mustang have what is called the PI HEADS,(POWER INPROVED).5 SPEED CARS ran in the 13.80 to 14.00 second range, against a STOCK L98,it should be real close,if the guy knows how to shift,WATCH OUT.My stock 1990 L98 TUNEPORT ran 13.70 at 105mph with mild mods, you can do this but dont think its a walk in the park!!!

It's a toss up but the '01's are a lot quicker than the earlier 4.6's.
I would recommend AGAINST going from a roll.

.Race should be a drivers one. Both cars should be about even, with the slight advantage to the Mustang!

Re: 88 iroc-z vs 01 mustang GT
Just race him. If you lose at least you still have a cooler car
.
The best part about racing is matching up with someone who's close to you. You guys should be in the same ballpark. Win or lose, the rush from a close race is worth it. If you loose going from a dig, try going from a roll. Work with each other to try and get something going where you guys end up close. It's all about having fun.
And on the Ford/Chevy note, I respect/like every Chevy/Ford/Mopar out on the road. It's the ****ing imports I can't stand. You don't want to loose to one of those ***** bastards. On the street in this day and age, Domestic vs Import, not Chevy vs Ford.

No, you are ignorant because you think one car is better than the other based soley on the emblem it wears. Is your crappy mismatched colored L03 powered Camaro better than a Mustang GT just because yours is a Chevy and the Mustang is a Ford? I don't think so. There's a difference between being a Chevy fan and being completly ignorant of the other, more capable vehicles out there.

I like that one 2!
But I agree with 25th, It would most likely be a drivers race with the slight advantage to the GT provided how well he can drive, but you never know untill you try.
