00 SS SLP vs 383 gta
OK I just got my car back on the road and my friend is claiming that his 00 SS SLP edition can beat my 91 gta. his car is factory stock besides a cat-back exhuast. We both are running 6 speeds. My motor is as follows 2 bolt main 383 stroker, 10.3 to 1 CR with trickflow 23* heads, comp cam 230/236 duration; 570/576 lift, 1.6rr, hsr intake (home ported), 30lb SVO, AFPR (set at 32psi), msd wires/6al/coil, smog detele, 58mm tb, 3.73 gears, hooker shorty headers, 2.5" y-pipe, 3" flowmaster cat-back. I don't have any suspension mods yet but I still think I can beat him because I raced him before it went down last time and we were pretty even but my car had some problems so she wasn't running her best. I read that most 383's on here run mid to low 12's and a stock ls1 should run a mid to low 13's with a good driver. Shouldn't I be able to walk him pretty easy?

Id say u walk all over him because 3 gens are about 400 lbs lighter from what ive read. If you have it tuned right id say u win and if you have a good reaction time the go for it. Ive kept up with an 01 LS1 from about 40-WOT. he finally passed me about 80 ish and he was supprised how fast my car was for just a small 305.

Yeah that what I thought but we mostly go from digs and I just put in new shocks which I NEEDED BADLY. I just got done test driving it with a couple of friends and its a night vs day difference of how well it lanuches now.

Maybe it's me but I'm trying to figure out without a major screw up how you can loose? If it's a little stop light action or even the 1320 you shouldn't have a problem. Heck all I have is the lil' ol' vortec crate and few other items and from 0-70 or 80 stop light runs have out run several ls-1s including the SS camaro.

I say get some either Et streets or the mt drag radials LCA and LCARBS and go LS1 hunting

FWIW, those shorty headers and dinky 2.5" ypipe are going to hold you back, especially on a 383. start saving for some long tubes
