My freind has a altima with the 3.5l and he wants to race me im not sure on the year but its auto no mods and is suspose to have 250 hp to the crank.
An my car is auto with accel cap an rotor ,and 3 in magnaflow cat back (4th gen) ,and no cat, and KaN filter off TB, and soon to have MSD Superconductor wires and hooker 2055s. I have a feeling ima gett whooped.

 

Think you might be SOL on this one. He's got about 20hp on you (if he's telling the truth about his numbers), and he's a bit lighter.

Chances are you're toast.

 

Your friend is telling the truth and you are more than likely toast. The 3.5 Nissan makes 255 HP and has a strong torque curve. 03 should still be a 4 spd automatic. I was a part-time service porter at a Nissan delership in 03-04 and I can tell you that even a Nissan Quest Mini-van will out-run your Z/28. They came with the 3.5 and are QUICK. I once had a guy in a L03 RS that was being a jackass. He punched it and I punched it from like 60 mph, the 3.5 Quest pulled away and left him in the dust.

With a better gear ratio in the back after you do the headers upgrade you should be alright, and at that time it will be a drivers race. In proper tune, with something like a 3.42 in the back, you should be running high to mid 14s.
I think those altimas ran around that stock.
He may have a 20 hp advantage, but you have a close to 50ft lbs torque advantage.
I have taken them in my 5 speed formula prior to rebuilding the motor.

 

Nissan master tech for 7 years, driven both types of cars, the z28 may launch better (rwd) but after the first 60 ft the altima is gone buddy.
