88 GTA L98 VS 69 Camaro SS 350

So a kid at school has a hugger orange 69 camaro with white rally stripes. I am not a first gen expert, so I think the car is an SS. It has the polished rally wheels, rally stripes, and it says 350 on the front fender. The car looks stock, but its in really nice shape, paint is nice, no rust, looks great. I was wondering, which car would win in a drag, that SS, or my 1988 GTA L98 350?

i use to know everything about first gens until i stared getting into 3rd gens more lol. anyhow it really matters if he is stock, what gears he has, and what hp motor. do you have good tires? i would think what would probaly be the win for you is to get good traction and not be spining all the way. but i think you got him from a dig but still im not positive on it.

Stock for stock I think you would edge him out. 69 camaro's were like the late 80'searly 90's 5.0 mustangs though. Meaning it didnt take much to make them quick. Gears, headers, a good ingition and exhaust, and maybe a slightly better cam and you would have your hands full. If I had to guess based on your description it probobly is no slower than high 14's in the 1/4 mile. It could very well be much faster depening on what is all done to it. It really is to hard to say for sure if you don't know that much about it. For all you know the 350 may actually be a 383 or larger.

Thanks guys, if I get the chance I will have a go with him. I have Goodyear Eagle GS-D3s on my car, he has since I made this thread put some skinny *** 18" torque thrust wheels on it with low pro tires... ty7592, thanks a lot man, I think I may add some updated pictures and videos of the car on there today.

Being that the car sounds like it's been restored who the hell knows what the motor has done to it, you know? It's really a crap shoot...but like others have said, there's only one way to find out.

if he put skinny tires on it im guessing hes all about show and no go... spank him and make sure everyones there to see it and since hes got skinny tires and dont let him complain about how u beat him cause he had no traction thats his fault for putting cookie cutters on a muscle car

ew lol i hate low pro tires on a muscle car, 16's should be the max for the first gens.

Could be anything under the hood of a 1stGen...too many variables involved.
