Race last night, beat some tuner 3 times.

I was at a local car gathering & there were all kinds of awesome rides. I saw 3 different late model 2nd Gen. Trans-Am's, like the ones from Smokey & the Bandit. I saw lot's of Mustang's, etc. It was great. I spent about 3 hours there talking & getting to know other guy's cars, including tuners & ricers.

I was the only one there with an IROC. There were a few Camaro's but they were all LS1 Z28's & there was SS. Saw a guy in a Viper that couldn't do a burnout, probably because he didn't know how to drop his clutch & he just bought the car, lol. Nice car though.

So I offered to race a Foxbody with a 302 and the guy kept saying he didn't want to. Even after his friends were saying race that Camaro, he wouldn't. Supposedly his car is dog slow, I don't know. It looks/sounded like it had work done to it. Then another guy with a Z28 LS1 had a friend with him who tried to get us to race but the area they wanted to go was unfamiliar to me, so I declined but I did offer a race on the interstate.

I end up leaving around 10:10p.m. and as I left and got to a red light I noticed this smaller white car coming up behind me. I didn't really think much of it but as soon as I changed lanes the car changed lanes too. So I thought, oh, he wants to race. So I get ready. I'm at the red light, waiting patiently, then it turns green. I hit the gas and I start getting over. He's right on my a@@. I could hear a turbo/and exhaust work running wild in his car. I didn't know what it was but I didn't care. I see the tight ramp coming up ahead & I take my IROC up to 65mph hugging the corners. I never braked. The smaller car backed off (probably thinking wtf!) and as I go down the ramp he starts to get back up to me. I get over real quick to the left & speed off to about 80. I see the highway has a few cars but this idiot goes all the way over to the fast lane while I'm in the slower lane. I guess he thought he'd get in front of me. I was looking well beyond the road in front of me so I tapped my baby up to 90 and zipped through the few cars ahead. I was ahead & then I get over & see the tuner car coming up fast from the fast lane. I use my blinker & he lets me over. I speed up to 100 & he's now behind me. I take my baby up to 110 and he is trying to get to me. I lose him enough by about 5 car lengths. I then slow down because cops are crawling on Saturday nights.

As I ride down the road I see his headlights probably about 7 car lengths behind me. I slow down, brake from 90 to 65 and let him catch up. As he gets up to me enough (side by side) I hear his turbo & exhaust loudly. I hit the gas & let her rip. Freaking 120 down the hwy. and this guy is trying to keep up but his car is not making it. I put about a mile between us before I slowed down. He never came back up to me. I saw him down the road behind me but I guess he didn't want to race anymore. I looked at his car while racing but I couldn't see the driver or the car's make. I got home safely & enjoyed my night. I whooped this guy's butt 3 times and I guess he figured my heavier car was slow, couldn't handle corners & couldn't beat him. It was fun though.

Those are the nights that make all the work and skinned knuckles worth it.

Yeah, I agree. I've done alot of work for my car since I got her. I always say that but it's so true. I've gradually seen the car transform but unfortunately with that comes a price and that price is these kind of cars are a pain the **** to maintain well and make sure all is well. You know what I mean?

Nothing like hard work paying off, but your next upgrade should be better brakes. There nothing like seeing good ole camaro pounding a tricked out tuner good s*#t and be safe

Oh, I've got great brakes. Sorry, I guess in my post I made it sound like I didn't have brakes when I went around the ramp real tight. No, I have some Friction Master performance ceramic brakes on my car. They work really well as long as you don't get them too hot all at once! But, I went around the ramp real fast and real tight because I wanted to show that tuner what old fashioned American muscle could do. Plus, it's my way of testing my car's ability to handle the tight corners. Handles excellent!
