'06 Roush Stage 3 Stang vs 86 iroc w/ a 406sbc
I'v got a buddy that has an '06 Roush Stage 3 Stang that his parents bought him as a graduation present.. (base price is $50,000) & I don't think he deserved it & he can't drive for ****. I'm building a 406sbc w/ a th350c & a 3.73 gear & hoping to be making around 500+hp & build all of this for a 1/3 of his car's price of his ride.. & SMOKE'EM!! .. so what do you guys think? can I beat him beat him w/ out breaking the bank?? if so wat cam & head combos do u think i should use? Right now I plan on going w/ all forged low-end & flat top pistons..

Nothing like kids vs kids. So is this build just for beating your friend and proving nothing and in the end you punching your wallet just to say ''ha, my car is faster than your car''? Also why don't you think he deserved it? It was a ''graduation'' present, he graduated and he got it. How is that not deserving? As for his driving, that only takes time to perfect.
Everyone can have something faster than you, Let him enjoy his present and if he rubs it in, let him do it, You know like you said you can build a faster car for 1/3 of what his parents paid, the mature side of you would take that as enough but if you plan to actually do more than just running around saying your car is faster than his car, go for it. Should be a fun project.

Couldn't help but notice that you're in IA. Not to get off topic but there's nothing wrong with putting a rich kid in his place.

It wont be hard to make your car faster than his, but that roush will still be better than your Iroc. It handles better, and stops better. That mustang wasn't tuned for the strip, it was tuned for road courses. My father has a 05 Roush stage 3 so I know how it is, it'll eat about any third gen for breakfast lol.

jealous? nah. I'm just saying building a car for less than what someone else got theirs for and beating them with it is always fun, therefore there's nothing wrong with beating someone that spent more for less with something that has more for less.

What happends when they build theirs up from stock? Yes he spent more, but look at the age and how the car comes stock, I would understand a motor buildoff sort of thing, meaning one guy builds one motor and the other builds a better one for less.
But comparing older inexpensive cars to newer cars and then talking price is kinda
Anyone can go out and buy a $500 vehicle and dump money into to make it fast. Still I can't deny to be happy when I see a built 3rd gen keeping up with new age upgraded cars.
