Took out 2 5th gen SS's

Been a long time since I've posted in this section, finally get to again.

Car has been down for the last 4 years. Was originally building an F-1 Procharged 383 LT1 but I ended up trading the blower for a high-compression 396 short block. Finally got it running this weekend and went down to the local weekend gathering.

Two friends both have SS Camaros, one is an '09 automatic, the other is a '10 6 spd. Both have an aftermarket cam and exhaust, automatic has a 3200 stall. Auto dyno'd at 420rwhp, 6spd dyno'd at 445rwhp. Raced the auto first from a 10mph roll and immediately jumped out a length and kept on pulling. Ended the race at about 120 and about 2-3 lengths ahead.

We went back and switched cars and headed back out, stopping to go from a dig this time. At the honk we both got slight wheel spin, shifting into 2nd about the same time, side by side. I pulled about a fender shifting into 3rd, but he pulled it back as he topped out 3rd. We both stayed in it as we topped out 4th gear and he was no farther back than my door. Very close race, probably one of the closest I've ever had. Almost made waiting the last 4 years worth it. Sure was a heck of a way to break in the new engine

Nice job. Might as well break in the new bullet doing what it was meant to do.

Good deal, my buddy's '10 SS with cam/ported LS3 intake and heads, put down 460whp and trapped 115-116 in the 1/4. Pulling on a car like that means you have a strong engine

I'm thinking big solid roller and a single-plane carb intake conversion

For now anyway. Figure I'll do a direct port later on once I have the carb intake on and it's easier to plumb.

Re: Took out 2 5th gen SS's

just exhaust mods my friend put down 404whp and about the same torque. I dont know what that equates to 1/4 mile traps but they are suppose to trap 110 or so stock. I dont know if 114 is in the realm of exhaust but since you done it, maybe my bud's car isnt running right? It was on street tires so definately alot more left in it. He wasnt quite tuned when he went 116mph racing me, so not sure where he is at fully tuned.
