golly wally most of the folks here should take up landspeed racing since they've already broken most of the records for "production class" cars

Re: Fastest you've gone
with the ECU limiters off and with the right gearing, weight and the right aerodynamic modification any f body can break 150 - 180 maybe 200 with that said the 4 banger iron duke is going to need help.

Just stirring the pot a little. I have some back ground in land speed racing and know what it takes to run some of the speeds mentioned safely and repeatedly. Aint trying to poo on nobodies parade. lots of fine iron here.

Re: Fastest you've gone
Only Fbody I maxed out was a 70 Z/28 it was somewhere in the 130ish range was a tad stronger than stock, ran out of gear
158 in my ZR1 I sold last yr even with 4.09 gears it had more to go.
Not a big fan of top speed things happen to quick up there and you have NO control over the car of somethign happens youre basically along for the ride.
0-120 real quick I can dig that.

Alright Ive did 135 in my baby with plenty of room to go and My 94 GSXR 750 I had her topped out around 130, its got a 520 conversion sprocket that limits its top end but damn is that thing a rocket out of the gate. Kept up with a ZX1400 up till 100 where i shut it down with him me on his rear tire. Sad to say but I wrecked my bike halloween night doing 110MPH, damn that was a rush. Good thing i where protection(leather jacket, helmet, and gloves). My Army ACU bottoms were all tore up though, prtty good road rash. lol

Re: Fastest you've gone
I was on my way to work the other day, passing veyron's and mosler's - you know, usual deal for us thirdgenners
Then I pull up at some lights and this F16 lands by me. Guy opens his cockpit, blaring E40 from his deck and starts trash talking on my '82 Iron Duke. Then he starts hitting on my girl. So she's giving him head and I'm like why don't I drop this fool. I pulled the choke out and hammered that four speed, hitting the sweet spot on every gear change. My idiot lights were flashing like crazy and everything gut blurry, but, yo, I think I passed 800
MW claims around 140 for a L98 IROC. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p4XjQGAnksE - I would think that on a pretty flat race track
I've taken my GTA upto around an indicated 120

Re: Fastest you've gone
Is it sad that I have gone faster in my 94 GMC Jimmy then my 92 RS?
Fastest was 95 in the Jimmy on the highway. 86 in the 92 RS. Yes slow but the front end would bounce to hell when going faster from bad shocks.
I plan to overtake my 95mph record in the Jimmy when the 92 is finished.
God damm I am such a dare devil, 95mph dayuuum.

195 in a 'vette on the 'bahns is pretty damn impressive - jesus, some of those bumps would've sent it airborne!

Re: Fastest you've gone
that is insane. Was a passenger in a Audi A4 through germany back in april. I found the autobahns bumpy, windy and coarse - at 130mph I was uncomfortable and felt the driver had little control

Re: Fastest you've gone
Hows 120 in a Chevette with a 358 in it and no seat belts. I guess it wasn't the smartest thing to do. My buddy came over one day a few months ago and wanted a ride in my car. I just finished the frame connectors and had to lose the factory seat belt mounts and hadn't made a new mount yet. I launched it and didn't lift for nothing. I looked over and he had his fingers so tight on my dash I thought he was going to put holes in it. We still laugh about it till this day. I haven't had it to the track yet but he's got a Corvette that runs in the low 11's and he said my car pulls much harder than his vette.

Camaro Z28-85-auto-15 yrs ago-Est-120 mph. (currently have.)
Corvette L48-75-auto-27 yrs ago-Fact-125 mph.
Mustang GT-89-5spd-21 yrs ago- Fact-145 mph.

All listed were mostly stock at the time. The Camaro came with 3:23 gear, but I broke a tooth on the pinion and replaced with 3:08 gear. Corvette had a 100 hp nitrous setup back then. The Honda mc was the first time I went past 100 mph on my own.

94 3.4L Camaro, hit 115mph weaving in and out of tractor trailer traffic (was several years ago, and i was young and stupid...)
91 3.1L Camaro, 125mph at night, later that same night i dropped it from neutral into drive at 4300rpm, and jacked up the tranny.
my 92 RS has yet to be tested as far as speed goes. but considering the motor build/tuning my buddy is doing on it, it should be able to do around 165-170...

132 in my 85 z28 with a t5 and a 350 from an 83 suburban. SLP shorties and 3" exhaust, Holley intake, and Edelbrock 600. Motor might have a small cam from the sound of it. It needs new tie rods and tires (which are on the way) and I have a new exhaust sitting in my room. We'll see if she has anymore left in her after that.

Re: Fastest you've gone
85 T/A, LB9, 700R, 3.27, stock, about 127-130ish. The brain to ***** ratio has changed since it's gotten headers, T5, full intake and exhaust, so I haven't tried much over 100 in it since. In my 95 LT1 135-140ish, funny story about that one.
I got irritated at an individual on my way into work, but he was driving to much like an *** for me to do much about it, weaving in and out of traffic, etc. Just so happened, about the time traffic cleared in front of me, someone in a mid-90s Caprice tried to blow by me. When he made it to my back bumper, I hammered it (about 80), he pulled up next to me, and stopped pulling (about 100), at about 110, I waved bye to him. Last I looked at the speedo, I was rapidly passing 130, then I started to approach traffic again, so I got out of it.
Shortly afterwards, about a mile down the road, I'm coming up on my exit, and I see red and blue lights flashing. The Caprice gets back into the slow lane, and so do I. He passes the Caprice, and pulls up next to me, and tries to get me to race. It took me forever to calm down from the though of going to jail for double the posted limit.

In my 1989 GTA 350, back when I first got it and it was bone stock, raced for a good 7-10 miles against a souped up Miata (I know I'm laughing too but they are easy to make fast with their weight) the whole time going 120+. Ended up topping out at 135. Weaving through traffic and ****.

105+
Thats what the ticket was for in my 85.
The cop asked me how fast I was going and I told him directly, I don't look down at this type of speed. He told me his radar was at its max and couldn't write me for anything more. That was a $250 fun ride.
Going back before that, 165 when I took my foot out of it because I was getting scared. 1969 KR-500 Shelby!!!

Re: Fastest you've gone
you got off easy, i got a $400 ticket for "93mph" he gave me a break because if he had written down the real speed it would have been another charge of reckless driving.... but he also charged me for "changing lanes while unsafe" eventhough i was using my directional at a buck 15
That was I believe 1986 when I paid $250!!

Re: Fastest you've gone
my 85 speedo stops at 85... so I am clueless but the fastest i have gone is ~5000 rpm in 3rd so i'm going to guess 120, it felt like it may have kept going but thats when i let off... idk if it would have gone into 4th and put me back in my power band what it is capable of... no need to find out

Re: Fastest you've gone
My speedo cuts off at 85 so im never really sure. Around me everyone goes 80 plus on the highway. Topped it out having some fun cruising with a new charger. I believe my cars supposed to top out around 130 give or take

Re: Fastest you've gone
True story funny as hell, I was on my way home from work one night in my 86 Iroc with the TPI in it. going a little over the speed limit until I came to a red light and there sat my good old friend officer K***** ... I gave him the look and revved my car while he shook his head NOOOO. Light changed I hit the gas full throttle and ripped out and left him behind. All of the sudden he was right beside me, we were doing about 150. He called me trouble every time he pulled me over, but never gave me a ticket. He was not the only cop I raced, was small town an I knew all the cops. I also was a very good law abiding citizen. I did have a state cop pull me over in that Iroc also, went to court and I won, very crazy story.
Ok last time i really got on it was about 2 months ago in a vet on the freeway, doing about 120 with the peddle 1/4 down..lol
I really would have put the peddle to the metal but was not my Vet and he was behind me in a Honda.

LOL
your talking about me
T5 gears 2.95, 1.94, 1.34, 1.00, 0.63
3.73
26"
http://www.wallaceracing.com/gear-speed.php
calc states this combo will only go <> 4th = 1.0
6000 RPM 124.42 MPH <> I know for a fact I have gone faster then this in 4th
calc states 6000 RPM 197.50 MPH <> 5th = .63
I know 197.50 is not going to happen with out ORR's twin turbo power
also calc states 6000 RPM 92.85 MPH <> 3rd = 1.34 <> fact I have a time slip 113 in the 1/4 not @ 6K <> 2nd gear launch only @ 2K
I had my rev limit set to 6,150
this is not a TPI intake
now whats FUNNY is anyone boasting <>130+<> on a stock prom is the REAL BS

That calculator has to be wrong, said 6000 in 4th with 1.1 with 2.72 gears was 170, i have done this and i dont think i was hitting 170 at all, maybe in 5th at 5000 REP, which i have done, but it said i was doing 224? Nope.

115 in the 1/4, and what ever 4900rpm with a 700R4 in 4th with 4.10 gears and 26" tires...
The truck has gone 133mph..
I also did 158 in a C4 Vette LT4.

Only did about 90 down the freeway.
Never really tried, not exactly looking to get a huge fine.
