Won't say as the oinkers have a habit of trolling these boards for just such threads. Same with street racing threads as well. Be careful what you post.

how could you get in trouble for saying how fast youve gone in your car? What are the cops gonna do arrest you and say we read online on a car forum that you went 120mph!

Well if you post your location as example small town iowa, 88 purple iroc with xxx mods, on hwy such and such, you can actually start to help pinpoint your location and ride, before you know it harassment starts for no apparent reason, just trying to be helpful.

yes well I would hope you also post your helpful reminder in the numerous threads on this site that go into great detail describing street racing/illegal activity. Such as "Hey last night on I 78 near mile marker 40 me in my dark blue Iroc raced a guy in a light yellow civic, we went 150 and then he hit a small child! it was great"

The fastest I went was 75 mph but that was in the highway where the speed limit was 75 mph.

Re: Fastest you've gone
OK, I know that I am old enough to know better, but, this summer, coming back from vacation, (I won't say in which state) some girl (woman), in a Mazda did not want to break the speed limit, but did not want to follow me on the interstate. She cut me off going 75 M.P.H. with 1 car length to spare and would not pull away. I had the cruise set on 75 and was enjoying the ride but she stayed right there in front of me. My wife was sleeping, I was HOT, so I pulled around her. Isettled in about 15 car lengths ahead and settled on cruise. Here she comes again! I did not let her pass! When my wife woke up she asked how fast we were going I looked and I said, 130. I do not condone this, I also had new shocks, struts, brakes, and tires. She gave up. What a rush! I guess everyone has a moment of weakness. Randy

In all seriousness i've done over 100 in Ellie. Its not because i topped out, i just caught up with traffic. I don't know what the big deal with top speed is. You are just driving in a straight line. How many G's have you pulled in a turn might be more fun...if there were a way to measure it.

We did a fly by on our way to Memphis for Memphis '01 at the F-Body Event. Andris got a few of us on video going by in his Durango R/T. It was well above 150mph as the speedo was buried for quite a while

Re: Fastest you've gone
Don't know specifically how fast I've done because the speedo stops at 140mph and I had the needle burried. For the authorities who are trolling this board: it was in my black '91 GTA on Calfornia highway 14 about ten miles east of Valencia (westbound #1 lane to be specific). Details of my car are in my sig.
P.S. For those of you who subscribe to the whole "oinkers are trolling this board" theory, ever heard of "heresay"? In court, it is something that is based upon somebody hearing it without actually seeing it first hand. Another way of putting that is that it would not hold up for a second therefore you cannot be convicted for it. If you're worried about being harrassed, then don't drive like an idiot!

125 according to my GPS. Had a bit more left in her but I didn't feel comfortable until I knew how the front end stuff was. Needless to say, I'm doing poly A arm bushings, summit ball joints, poly endlinks, and UMI wonderbar right now. After new tires I'm going back at it. Kinda hoping to blow up the old 350, lol.

126 at the track so far and the way my car is geared at the moment, can't go much faster. The other gear set out on the highway, should be able to do 160.

135 indicated, 3rd gear, wouldn't upshift into OD, although the trans is supposed to be set-up to go WOT in OD...6500 RPM...still pullin' pretty hard. Lotsa straight, flat, level, dry, clear road left

Re: Fastest you've gone
I've only gotten her up to 105, but theres no good straights around here. Right after I changed the injectors. I got a new pcv, but I put it on the pass side valve cover (just an open vent in the shape of a pcv...dumba$$ lol) and I blew my dipstick out and covered my engine with oil...must have looked like the car was on fire coming down my street! Learned that lesson the hard way HA HA

122.14mph in the 1/4 so far...maybe faster this friday? been faster on the street. burried a 145 speedo...calculated 162, but not sure how accurate that is...converter slippage plays a big toll on that stuff going that fast.

Re: Fastest you've gone
Ive done 145 in my 77K 1988 L98 GTA just to see what it would do. Felt stable, safe, and the pedal was not even to the floor. I don't beat on my car, I slowly eased it up and let off. Keep in mind this was after a fresh oil change and thorough inspection of the car too, I didn't just jump in the car and peg it. I would HIGHLY advise anyone doing this to do the same.

My needle was pointing straight down on a 140 speedometer. I am not sure how fast that is but, the dotted line in the middle of the road looked soild. Buy the way I won the race against the 89 5.0 gt that night. This was years ago. Not crazy like that any more.

As far as fastest in my third gen? Back with the cammed 305 and the 700R4 with the stock 2.77's I hit about 150 in 3rd gear I believe. Speedo was topped out at 145 and the tach climbed another few hundred rpm before I let off. Not sure how accurate the speedo is at the high of a speed though!
