basically stock t/a with hypertech chip, cold air intake, exhaust freshly tuned up...vs basically stock with same mods 84 vette crossfire...both just tunned up...both cars were in the shop together both owner talking big about who would win what do yall think?

When my 89 was stock. Just an ADS "superchip" and K+N airfilter i used to beat a friends 84 Crossfire Vette all the time.

 

I'm going the play the devils advocate. The race will be a drivers race... The Vette weighs around the range of 200lbs less. I've even seen 84' C4's running in the range of 2900lbs stock weight. The vette has less hp yes BUT the C4 weighs less and the bird WILL weigh more... Both engines are probably pretty close in hp. THe C4 made 200hp in 84 and the bird makes 195-230hp in 1989. 30hp will not haul an additional 200+lb car to pass a car with 30hp less but a lot lighter... Its a drivers race. Both Auto?

 

84' Corvettes actually made 205hp, its the 82' C3s that made 200hp with crossfire injection

i agree it will be a drivers race. both cars are low 15s stock. if both cars have the same mods, it will come down to who can launch better

I think both cars are not very fast, whichever one is running better will probably win...

Ok then, no harm no foul. Good And i own an 84 C4. I know they are slow stock. Just like our third gens stock. That's why we have aftermarket parts available. Thank God for the aftermarket!

 

the 'vette may be lighter, but it probably has a little more parasitic loss through the rear axle than the 3rd gen, I think it'd come down to the driver too.

 

my cammed 350 CFI Z28 would annihilate the 84 CFI vette I drove around for a few weeks two months ago. the vette was in nicer shape and in better tune probably too. the gears in that vette steal all the power he'd need for racing. every time i drove the 84 vette i was wishing i was in my 83 camaro instead.

 

I would hope that a cammed 350 would beat a 350 designed to get good gas mileage....
