I have 88 vert 5 speed and 90 vert auto. Driving both of them the 90 has more power than the 88 even thou by factory specs the 88 5 speed has more horsepower than the 90 auto.
My daughter picked up 2003 pt gt 2.4L turbo. I took it for a spin and man can that car move.
From a stand still or rolling this pt gt turbo would smoke my Irocs.
I believe the horsepower ratings for all 3 cars are similiar ,I just can't get over the power and speed difference between the PT cruiser and the Irocs.
Anyone experience or encounter a pt gt turbo on the street and have had a run against one . I had always believed that the Irocs would smoke the pt gt cruiser but now I really have my doubts.

 

It's basically a slightly slower, much more ugly SRT-4 Neon.

 

I'm thinking if it makes comparable power at a comparable weight it's not faster. It might feel faster due to the turbo lag... it goes from no ***** when the turbo is at low boost to a much more "awake" car when the turbo spools. I could be wrong, but almost every turbo car that I have been in has felt faster then my Camaro; in reality only a very select few were faster.

 

i havent run mine yet, but i think i read they were good for ~9.30's stock. i had a friend with an '05 srt-4 and it ran 8.90's bone stock. what does a stock iroc/ta run in the 1/8?

 

It says they are 15.3 in the 1/4. Like I said, it feels faster due to the turbo.

 

my '88 IROC-Z ran 14.5 1/4 at 4500' elevation with 2.77 gears, so the likelihood is your third-gen's are faster.

 

It really just depends on many variables and such. Condition of the cars, weather, wind speed, desire to go fast, wanting to eat burgers, etc, etc.
