2 races tonight against a newer model truck
I hadn't driven my car for the last 2 weeks almost. It has been snowing and raining and it's been cold, so today was warmer and dry. I took my car out for a little drive to get the gas/oil flowing and I got to this light. I'm at the light and the truck to my left just slams on his gas pedal like a bat out of hell.
He wanted a race quickly I guess so I went to catch up and wow, I pulled on him like mad and passed him up bad. Got to the next light and I pretend I didn't know what was happening as he pulls up next to me. The light turned green and he hit his gas again and I didn't hit full throttle, I just hit it abit over half way and I passed him up again. It was fun as heck, I like it when I smoke a newer car that thinks my baby can't do it.

Uh, some of you really have never raced a truck with power before I guess. I used to work with these guys who owned those diesel turbo's and they would always talk about how they'd surprise a Camaro or Mustang by beating up on them. But yea, it was a truck but the truck had power and it was fun.

I know of a certain daily driver Suburban ('02, I think it is) that I'd put money on against 90% of the cars on here.
To the OP.....
So you "raced" a guy just because he sounded like he took off fast? Loud does not - fast, nor even wanting to race. What does your car have that is above stock?

Re: 2 races tonight against a newer model truck
A friend of mine works at a Chevy dealership near me. He drives a turbo-charged Excursion. I rode with him in it one day and dang, that thing is fast as heck. It's got over 600ft. of torque in her and about 300rwhp. But with that torque it is pretty quick and would dust alot of cars. Then I uploaded a few videos of my car for him to see how quick mine was and after he watched them he said I think now that you car would smoke me. Anywho, it's amazing what those heavy trucks can put down.

For starters, it wasn't a full out race as many on here post about. It was a light to light race. 2nd, my car doesn't have the blessing off a $4,000 pro-charger yet or forged pistons yet but it does have alot of upgrades and alot of money in it and it is fast as heck. Thanks.

I have my website for all of that. It's on my profile page on here. I started my website almost 1 year ago this month, so if you are at all interested in seeing that list or anything else, you can go there as I'm not listing it on here. Thanks.

What kind of truck was this? Long bed, short wheel base? V8 or V6? Model or year of this truck? Did he have his mom with him?

Re: 2 races tonight against a newer model truck
I don't get what it matters what it was. It wasn't a legitimate race anyway. Bottom line is he won; whether it be a pickup truck or a dodge neon it doesn't really matter.
If you all want to bash trucks so badly, line up against a new diesel truck or a new vortecmax or hemi. I will guarantee you a new bone stock single cab short bed hemi will put a smack down on just about everybody who is bashing trucks in this thread. Just because it weighs 4,000+ lbs doesn't mean it isn't fast. Factor in power to weight, your 3400 lb F-body with 215 hp or a 4,500 lb 450ish horse truck.

yes some trucks are fast but 98% of them are not. high to mid 13's stock is not "fast", quick yes, fast no. third gens are just slow stock... they are 25 years old now
Re: 2 races tonight against a newer model truck
Oh, I couldn't tell because I had an MP3 player going music/headphones but the truck had power, that's all I can say. It was a legitimate street quickie race but unlike some I don't underestimate anyone in anything. You just never know!

Okay, for starters I'm no idiot. I don't care what anyone else does in their own car, I just happen to use headphones but they don't prevent me from hearing what's around me and if they did I wouldn't use them. So leave that as it is. But until I get a new sound system installed into my car I don't have a choice if I want to listen to some music, you know?
Re: 2 races tonight against a newer model truck
I can't say I listen to Judas but I do listen to some hardcore stuff that I've come to love over my years of of music enjoyment. I listen to a broad range from Circus Of Dead Squirrels to Velvet Revolver down to Killswitch Engage & Knights Of The Abyss. The list goes on.

Re: 2 races tonight against a newer model truck
Anyway, if you raced a new Tundra they can be pretty fierce if it had the 5.7; pretty sure the Tundra was the fastest truck besides the SRTs and SVTs.
yes most trucks are slow. I have a bolt on 2 door yukon and it feels faster then my header/exhaust 305 camaro did. Backed by 3.73's it's a freak; it blows the doors of my single cab short bed Z71 (same motor, gears, but the Z71 is like 500 lbs lighter).
Re: 2 races tonight against a newer model truck
Their is a video of a new chipped duramax (that is all) against a new SS. Guess who wins?

Turbo diesels are the hillbilly equivalent to the riceburner trend.
Simply turn up the PSI and fuel until you can suck a small child into your intake and call it a day but b*tch when you go up against a car running a bottle

we own a 2010 tundra 5.7... not fast, quick yes, fast no lol.
by "chip" you must mean tuner.... only a very small % of trucks are fast, i don't know why you keep saying oh there are a few fast ones i acknowledged that already...

I wouldn't ever buy one. I don't tow anything around. The guys around here ruined the turbo diesels for me; a truck covered in lights with stacks billowing black smoke... blaring country music with a fat kid wearing a flannel shirt and huge belt buckle just isn't my thing I guess. Every hill billy and their mother has one around here.

Jokes aside, I just thought of something, I'll look into it later since I won't have more money until next weekend.
Re: 2 races tonight against a newer model truck
There are alot of things that are against the law but when you have people like me who are not fazed by such things because of my background, I know there are far worse situations that can come from life than just headphones and as such it is the least of my concerns. But I will be looking for something different since it was brought to my attention by Stephen about a speaker. I'll just look for something to put in my passenger seat when I drive with maybe a docking station or something. It is a hassle to have a mp3 player and a cord!

Here's an idea, get a cheap deck, speakers and be done with it.

Re: 2 races tonight against a newer model truck
I was raced by a Ford Lighting. That was the first time i realized that was a sports car in a truck body. We got up to 140mph and he passed us. My Brother and I just looked at each other and backed off. We could have kept up with him but we didn't bother. He had to been going 150mph.
All started because my brother and I passed 3 cars who were going slower then crap, and one of those cars was the Lighting, he pulled around and got right on our tail. He passed going about 85, we passed him going about 100, he passed us about 115, we passed him and slammed it up to 140-145mph he was behind but keeping up, then we let off and thats when he passed us going about 150mph. That was ridiculous.
So yeah, dont underestimate trucks.

Yup, amazingly powerful cars, and a lot rolling around here are supercharged because people have money. So who knows what kind of horsepower they are putting out then.

You can take down an v6 Siverado with an 03 Ford Escsape. A 305 Tbi can take down 03 Escsape with headers and duel exhaust. So no, He was not racing no V6 siverado <----which is pathetic.
