The SC is stock and has an automatic. I going to race him when I put on the Cat back and gut the cat in about a week. I don't mean to offend anyone (I know some of you SC guys could blow my doors off) but I think that the SC is fairly slow unless modded slightly, am I right? Can i beat him by a couple car lenghts?
p.s. I'm the better driver

I am not sure but what do the SC have under the hood? Carbed 305's? If so teh 86 Carbed 305 was rated at 160HP and your TBI is 170 I believe, I would say you would win especially of you lose the heavy stereo stuff, but I could be wrong, never ahd any expeince wiht an SC.

Hey there guys, i'm a PROUD owner of an 87 SC and one of my best friends drives a '91 RS, his is a 5 spd mine is an auto, i have no major mods just a 3.73 gear ratio and a flowmaster exhaust, he just had a dynomax exhaust on his, i beat him by about 1-2 car lengths once we hit about 60 mph, the big thing about SCs is there LG4 and an exhaust can really wake them up, so if the SC has a catback on it, i'd put my money on the SC. The LG4 also has more potential then LO3, TBIs.

i have an 89rs with the lo3 and a 5speed and a buddy of mine has a 86 sc with a catback, and mine is stock except for an open air cleaner. i have put a good jump on him that he couldnt catch up with several times. he can still hang in there though. i think if i had an auto, he would get me. its a close call. its gonna come to the best driver i would say.btw ditch the stereo stuff b4 u race.
