92 Camaro vs. 99 Lightning

I have a 92 Camaro with a 383 and a race built 4L60. The engine is dynoed at 440 Horsepower and 465 ft.lbs torque. I haven't yet upgraded my rearend from the stock 2.73's, but the car is very strong. His lightning is stock. Who will win this race and what will my e.t. be approxiametly.

Those Lightning's are fast!!

I've heard they run STOCK between 13.5 and 13.2! The newer models.
The 93 - 94 models were 15 second 1/4 mile times.

A 383 should get into the 12's with good gears so I think it could be a close race. He may have you out of the hole but you might start to pull on him at about 80 - 90 mph.
Is the 383 a carb or TPI? Any suspension mods would help you too.

13.879 @ 98.90 mph (with 2.77 gears!)

Hmm the lightnings I've seen around here usually run low 14's at the track from what i've seen. But if you've got a 440 HP stroker like you say, the only thing you'll need to beat him is traction. If you hook, you've got him easily.

the '99's are not as fast as the '01's..thats why a lot of lightning owners made a big stink about the '01 model..ford really upgraded this years model..a '99 is good for low 14's high 13's at best...basically..you'll destroy this thing..unless something REALLY messed up happens

I went to the track a few days ago and the stock 99 ran a 13.7 @ 101mph (not to sure about mph, thought it was 101). I was talking to the guy, his buddy with a catback, pullies, ignition, and other tiny **** ran a best of 13.2 @ XXXmph. Those things are quick. If his is stock he will go high 13s, if not, your in trouble.

Good point, small mods do really help those things a lot. I saw in a mag. where they put on a new MAF, k/n, and a chip and it picked up like 40 or so RWHP at least. Thats a freakin potent pickup.

99 lightnings are really stout from anything below about 40mph. My daily driver is a lexus GS400 and i had one pull me pretty good until about 60. By about 70 he was not gaining anymore ground. But, if ur 440hp is configured with the right drivetrain (gearing and suspension), you will kill him. You should be able to run 12s with that combination
