Is keeping your car looking stock better for street racing, or did changing it get u more races??

I had more ricers and domestics trying to get a go at me when my car looked stock. With a Cowl hood and deeper exhaust sound, I guess some people think I got more under the hood than I actually do.
The only reason I got the fiberglass hood is because I cashed my car and figured to get a weight saving. I actually wanted a stock-looking Firebird glass hood but they don't make one.
Definetly less street racing with a more agressive appearance. For me, anyway.
I'm thinking of getting big V6 badges or somethin'. LOL.

I seem to have been getting more attention after I lowered my car,it does look a little more aggressive,it's always some sh!tbox struggling to keep up when I'm just driving away from a stop light,I still haven't had a chance for an all out drag race,VA sux!!
My car is a 91 RS --->B4C car. I have welds on it and a glass 2" cowl hood, loud exhaust and its black. It definetly looks tuffer then it is (A stock 305) and not too many people mess with me, when most of them could beat me

no1 will race me anymore. my 85 z28 now has an Iroc turbo cowl hood, big 4"tips out the back with a wicked sound. i only have a stock LG4 with exhaust mods but alot of people are intimidated by the sight (and sound) of my car. it makes my car look hella faster than it really is. i cant get a race anymore!
I put a snorkel on my hood and people won't leave me alone. Every time I pull up to a light some kid in his dad's car thinks he's going to show me what real power is. It's like people think I'm full of myself and need to be brought down a peg. The only reason I did it was because the damn manifold was too tall.

Think of it this way; A win is a win!
If you intimidate your enemy...err...a competitor into submition, you've won. You took the fight out of the guy/girl without flexing any muscle.
Hey, look. Appearance mods cost money too. And it all comes down to money.
The more you have, the faster you are.

My car looks stock but has the nice exhaust note. No one has wanted to race me except for a friend of mine in a beat up rustang. Since the street racing scene has gone to total crap around here due to guns and gangs, races will be few and far between.

My car looks almost completely stock, and looks like it hasn't been taken care of. No one ever races me. Actually another camaro raced me, but he wanted to race from the stop light with cars in front of both of us. I can't figure out why no one wants to race me, maybe they just assume I drive a sleeper, or they just don't bother with a car that looks like a peice of crap.

On the flipside, what if you go to race at the track. If someone stages and does'nt race they lose.(mch problems or itimidated). You will have a hard time convincing your buddy your bone stock 2.8 beat a mclaren if he refused to race.My new 6.6 is quick so I will be doing less street racing now.It could beat most if not all stock cars(no mods). So I feel like the selective hunter, only preying on the strong.I fell bad for all of you with no street scene.Go to the closest main st. or cruise spot is my best advice.Round my way I'll get a joker wanting some even just going to the gas station.I'ts funny because people see 6.6 liter f.i. on my hood they always want to race. There is actually a spot south where there is drag racing goes on.I have never been there though, not into gambling much.Besides I like to go to a real track. At least then you get a real timeslip. In missouri we like to play with cars that has body mods.It might look tough but you'll have to show me!

No only will people not race me, they usually won't pull along side me. If I'm the first car at the light usually people in the other lane only pull up to my rear bumper. Ah, respect!!!!!

Only race I've had since I bought my car in July was a moron in a Subaru WRX wagon... I consider it a win because I was pulling ahead and leaving him behind at the point the two lanes merged... not being totally suicidal I let off and became the smarter man... I have to give some recognition to the WRX... it left me behind half a car length off the blocks, but nothing compares to the 240+ ft-lbs under the hood... I think the power bulge hood is a little intimidating, but maybe its my incredibly loud exhaust (only gutted cat) which literally sounds like a boat.
In regard to the McLaren... I saw one on ebay going for ~$20,000 a few months back, old 1976 model... that thing was 37" high! Talk about short...

I recently lowered my car, and put new rims and tires on it, and I've seen alot more action. The problem is that most of these people are driving something rediculously slow. Just last week a really old saturn pulled up next to me at a stop light full of people, and started revving up. We both had our windows down. I asked him if he was serious, and he asked me if I was scared?? I don;t know what this guy was smoking, but I let him have it anyway just for fun. I think they just wanted to hear me take off, she does sound pretty mean. You guys would not believe how often this kind of thing happens to me now.

I've had people in your avg everyday cars rev their 4-bangers just to see if I would get on it when the light turns green. One time a cop was directing traffic at an intersection and watched me as it was my turn to stop.He had a big smile on his face and yelled at me "C'mon.Smoke 'em!". I looked at my wife and she said do it,so I did. The cop gave me a thumbs up as I passed thru the intersection.
I've noticed A LOT more Stangs,vettes,f-bodies,ricers,etc,revving up at lights or going down the road since I've done all the stuff to my car. And it really isn't at all as quick as it looks. But that's next on the list
