ripped from the forum at http://www.rx7club.com/vforums/index.php
with a few other rips comments from the sit

Yesterday I was getting food at Wendy's, just as I was about to get in the car. I heard some nasty sounding truck revving. I looked over on the street. There was an early 90s Ford Ranger and a big ice cream truck sitting at the red light. The ice cream truck was closer to my side. I could see the driver was talking to the pickup truck driver while he was revving. At that time I thought to myself. Hmm are they really going to go at it? Ice-cream truck vs Ford Ranger. As I was thinking, the light turned green. The Ford Ranger took off like a turtle with the ice-cream truck following. They probably got up to around 40mph. Watching them accelerating is like watching grandma and grandpa running. When they let off, the Ranger beat the ice-cream truck by a car length. That ice-cream truck must have been empty to be able to run with that Ranger

Hey, but the ice-cream truck should have won, what with all those stickers, they should have had added around 1200 HP -hehe-- enough to make all the ricers jelous!

If I have money to burn, I would outfit an icecream truck with a tube frame, and put a nice turbocharged V10 in there, and go racing the local rice boys!

All with the twinkle-twinkle music playing on a PA speaker up front ;-)

-Les

The ice cream truck probabily had the intake hooked up to one of the freezers.....talk about a cold air intake.

I could only imagine what the wager was like...."I'll bet you two sno-cones and a fun dip that i can beat you..."

That is too funny!

Can't you just see the Car & Driver cover showing them in comparison? LOL.

Hey, that song should add 40 horsepower right?

Thats a classic. We have an event here at the local circle track called 1 on 1 drags, and this guy was out in what looked like an 80's plymouth station wagon w/ a police light on top. He actually won his first race. Was pretty funny too.

I had a Datsun before and stock would probably run the 1/4 in 22 seconds or so.
So when racing someone dialing in 14 seconds for example, the Datsun would get an 8 second head start. If you are the car racing him that 8 seconds seems like an eternity and you get antsy.
There is a Datsun at the track I go to that dropped in a 350 and runs high 12's. I raced him in warm ups once. I almost couldn't read his license plate, he whooped me so bad.
