Engine $$$$
If you guys had $10,000 just to spend on a engine what would you get?
I would get this from badasscars.com:
620 HP 434 "Street Small block from Hell": This engine is a real "GM 502" eater in a small block package. It makes over 600+ horsepower and even though I am labeling this as a "street" engine (because it runs on 92 octane pump gas and can be driven daily) it could just as easily become a racing engine with a simple piston swap and just like all of the other engines I build, this one can be changed to suit your particular needs. Fully prepped 400 block fitted with a billet aluminum main support. ARP main and head studs, 4" stroke 4340 crank. 6 inch 4340 forged H-beam rods with ARP bolts. Forged, fully machined JE light weight pistons with floating pins and iron ductile rings. Custom ground .670" lift Crower cam and lifters. True double roller timing assembly. Chrome moly push rods. Aluminum roller rockers. Fully CNC'd Edelbrock Victor Jr. heads and matching ported Victor Jr. intake manifold. (optional CNC'd Brodix and PRO heads available), Customized Holley "Race Shop" 750 carb and Billet HEI distributor. Pro-Race harmonic balancer and SFI approved flex plate. Engine comes fully balanced and assembled with stainless steel bolts. $9,995

Personally I like the Morgan Motorsports Agressor 650. 418 CI stroked LS1 with billet crank and other crazy internals. 625HP@6000 RPMs 580#Ft torque @ 4500. How much it costs i don't know. And it looks totally like a stock LS1 on the outside.
The only reason i choose this over a big block is for weight reasons. Gas mileage at this power level is basically not a concern anyway.

88 Camaro (The mighty LO3 SC!)
305TBI/700R4/2.73/123,XXX miles
14" Open Element and Flowmaster 80 seires
Next up: headers and gears

12370850 - ZL1 Aluminum Bare Block Pace Price $5089.00
The Chevrolet aluminum big-block is back and better than ever. This block was first introduced in the 1969 Corvette and Camaro. It was one of the rarest production engines ever built. Now the improved version is available. This block is based on the original tooling. The new casting is made from 356-T6M aluminum alloy and has a 4.250" cast iron liner that can be bored to 4.300". The bottom end has also been improved with new 4-bolt splayed steel main caps, with dowel pins to locate and hold the caps in place. This block includes screw-in freeze plugs with o-ring seals, and a two-piece rear main oil seal. the new block has a provision for both dry sump or regular oil pump systems and mechanical fuel pump. All GM Performance Parts cylinder heads will fit this block and it weighs only 110 lbs. The maximum stroke is 4.375".
you want a light big block?

bigger isn't always better....i'd build up a turbo 3.8 motor
Stage 2 block not sure on the heads and stuff...i'd need a bulletproof bottom end...custom DFI setup...and a T100 turbo

take a 4 bolt 350, stroke it to 383, build the bottom end up to support over a 1000 hp, get a set of pretty good heads(CNC ported Victor Jr. heads and intake) and a cam set up for supercharging then a huge carb set up for it too, so you are at like 4000$, go out and buy a D-1 ATI intercooled Procharger, twist up the boost to like 25# and then watch whatever you have behind the think explod because of the power. I think that would prob make 1000hp and about 10000$

I'd start with a 406 shortblock, 4130 crank with the rod journals cut down to 2.00", a set of 6" H beam rods and JE pistons, a set of season-old SB2 heads and intake (converted to EFI), and a Thumper.
Should make close to 1,800HP easy.

TFX Aluminum SBC, 427ci, Brodix CNC'd aluminum heads, pair of big turbos strapped on with a custom intake and DFI. backed up by a nice little Lenco 5 speed through a moly shaft out to a Strange 12 bolt.
