Ok here are the numbers for C&D
227hp@6000
217lbft@4000
0-60mph 5.8secs
0-100mph 17.5secs
1/4mile 14.7secs

They seem to be pretty quick cars, but judging by 0-100 times they have little top end power, if you ahve a 350 you could prolly take one of these, let us know if you race him.

there is also a version a little bigger than the wrx. i think it is 270 instead of 227. my friend has one of these, only the rs version though. but he is selling his 90 300zx to pay for a better impreza.
man that 300z is nice, i guess it was a race car at elkhart lake, and i think it ran with the slow porsches or something.

also i think that my 1985 camaro with the little 305 tpi could take one of those on in the quarter. a close race, but if i launch i probably could take it.

Those cars are All Wheel drive I believe. If that's the case they should launch pretty well. If your cars anything like mine I can't launch much above 1000 revs without spinning. Just a thought.

Umm have you ever heard of Rally racing? thats where they came from. These are just fancy racers thats about it. They already have a whole slew of aftermarket parts availible too. Upgraded intercooler, turbo, fuel system ect ect... they can be made to run low 11's with some $$$ around 3k I think... And yes they are AWD and yes they lock up and spin VERY VERY little. They have outstanding traction. for a 18-19K car they have outstanding performance. Can they run with the LS1's yet? no not quite yet but they will be bringing over the more powerful 270PLUS version soon enough. I have known several freinds/people in the navy that have brought them over from Japan and they will walk any F body.(save the S/C NOS or heavy power adders)

actually my friend has one. and there are upgrades that the factory puts out and i guess they can get to 600-800 hp on factory parts, and can keep the waranty.

at least they are GM cars

the 270 hp cars are already here, I've seen them. to know which ones are which, look for a little pink emblem on the back.

I think the base model imprezas are about 18K, but the WRX model is about a 6k increase.

My friend is getting one this christmas for his car. Hes trding in his old one to get it. He wants to race me once he has it and hes gettng the 227 modle upgraded with a turbo so i dont know how much hp it will have then. I have my 94 lt1 350 formula, all stock at the moment. By the time of the race ill have the intake, exhaust, and chip. You think i'll be able to beat him?

Dude, it comes with a turbocharged engine. Subie does offer some bolt ons. The aftermarket has many upgrades for the WRX, hp on these cars is over 300 flywheel horsepower...

The torque numbers are pretty weak on that car I'd say almost any 350 could take the WRX reliably... as for me, I would love to see one smoke my LG4... damn preppy high schoolers...

what makes these subarus really cool is that you can hold the launch around 5000 rpms and then take off. that sets the turbo spooled and ready to go. it has a limited slip to both the front and rear axles.the tires don't spin too much. but top end, a good running 350 should take it in the quarter. The subaru only weighs 3092 lbs.and btw the torque for this car is pretty darn good for a flat 4. it's 217ft/lbs@4000 rpms..that peaks out just in time for the turbo to get goin . and the red line isn't until around 7k judging by the picture of the dash i saw. personally i think it would smoke either of my two cars or my truck.and if they have a boost controller, you better have some serious internal work done. happy WRXing
EDIT: they run 14.1@96mph in the 1/4 mile "Car & Driver" October 2001
EDIT: The redline is at 7500 rpms "Hot Rod" August 2001
EDIT: sorry about all the edits lol

On my way back from NY in my wife's 305 TBI Firebird I got into a spat with a guy driving his new WRX (jerk cut me off) We started racing and he almost got a good carlength on me, but I practically walked away from him after we hit 95mph. All i've done to her car is put in a K&N, removed the silencer ring and disconnected the Thermac door, otherwise it's still stock. Brightened my day a little. If it was from a dead stop though, he would have taken me to school.
