Autoweek

Autoweek has an article on the next generation Mustang.

Its going to compete against the Corvette.

We're all getting left behind now. Newer cars are getting better and better. Altima 3.5 does mid 14's, Subaru WRX does high 13's.

Its gonna get so we all need to have 13 second cars just to stay competitive on the streets.

Guess I'll start saving for a 383.

Yuck! I have been working at FORD dealerships for about a year now and FORD really needs to get off the Retro Bring'n'Back the original look. I mean, YUCK! I honestly like the looks of the 98-03 stangs, but that beats all. YUCK!

Get used to it – everything old, is new again. All of the "Big 3" are doing the retro thing. Chrysler started it with the Prowler and PT Cruiser and now GM is following up with the SSR and Bel Air (talk about yuck factor, the Bel Air isn't too appealing). Ford came into the game with the new Thunderbird, so why not do the Mustang next.

I kind of like the retro look. I'm tired of seeing all of the new cars being either all angles like the Nissan Altima, and it's clones like the new Cadillacs. If it isn't all angles, then it is a sports car that is an Audi TT clone. Can anyone tell the difference between the Audi TT, Lexus SC450, Nissan 350Z, Infiniti's rebadged 350Z whatever it is called? Of course, most of the new cars are suv's,
how many different ways can you restyle a box?

Actually... Id have to say that Volkswagon started it with the Beatlle. I remember is was supposed to debue in 1995, but was delayed until 1998. I dont recall the exact release date, but i do remember it was supposed to be 95' then, i never heard about it again. Whats funny is that it has taken VW from 1998 to 2003 to finally release a convertible version of the car. But Id say that is where "Bring back the oldies" began... Agree?

I dunno...I kinda like the retro style designs in the drawings of the future Camaros (hopefully) that Ive seen...I hate all this super smooth and bubbly shape Ive seen, they are all starting to look the same!! A car needs some aggressive lines...I really liked the look of my dads Bonniville cause the hood has what I call "muscle lines" on it... Even the newer Camaros...I love the first gens aggressive look and they used to be know for the bodys curve over the rear tires...now newer ones can be mistaken from afar for a Geo Metro !!

I think were getting a little too aerodynamic...Just tonight my dad and I were checking out a new Nissan 300Z after his B-day dinner outside of the Elephant Bar...and the car has no lines to it, its smooth and pointy...I dunno, would just like to see some cars with style- cause If I could afford a new car I wouldnt get one(well maybe a Vette but,) I would rather buy an older one and put $$ into it...

/end of rant!

Do you know why they are doing the retro thing, Its because they used up pretty much all the designs now. They used the box desing, the streamline and the round bubble stuff and now they just arnt sure what to do anymore. SOOOOOOO they try to make a car that looks like a previous car that sold really well. I dunno if I like the retro look on most of the new cars coming out, but that stang might look ok if we could see the front better. But 280 hp is lame for a new V8 whats up with that? the Prowler just has a V6 3.5L 24 vavles 253hp not bad ( I know this because we own a 94-95 dodge intrepid prototype)

You know the old adage "There is no substitute for cubic inches?"
Ford's v8 is only 4.6 liters. The new T'bird's v8 is 3.8 liters. Ford has tried to get 320 hp out of the 4.6 for the Cobras, but they keep getting in trouble because their engines don't make the horsepower they advertise. The only way they can get serious horsepower out of the 4.6 is with a blower. Of course Vortech's ad slogan is "The replacement for discplacement."
