In theory it's pretty simple. To pull a turn to the left, crank the wheel hard to the left. As the car starts to come around, straighten the wheel and pull the e-brake hard enough to lock the rears. Because they've lost traction, the rear will continue the swing started by the turn.

Now for the reality check. Sure it looks cool, but it's really hard to not just spin it out of control. You have to be feeding it enough go juice to keep the rears spinning after you let off the e-brake because your momentum still has the weight of the car going the direction you were originally heading, just the direction you're facing has changed, and you haven't really lost a lot of speed. (For comparison, it's like putting it in reverse at 60MPH)

Even doing it right puts one heck of a strain on your brakes, rear end, tranny, clutch/converter, and you're basically exceeding your cars handling limits intentionally. If your tires catch traction while you're sideways, well, let's just say I hope you did a good job installing your roll cage cuz you're gonna need it.

I'm not even going to talk about the effect that 4000 lbs of steel bouncing along the highway would have on oncoming traffic.

If you really MUST learn how to do them, please look up a stunt driving school to learn it at.

Pulling the ebrake to lock up the rear wheels will make the car naturally want to swing around and go backwards. Find a very very large empty and secluded parking lot if you are seriously looking to try it.

I've done it in about 6 different cars from a 3 cylinder Geo Metro (Scary) to a new Chrysler Sebring. There's never been a time where I even came close to rolling. I think that has to do with your cars' center of gravity and the tires you have. It does take practice to get right though. My suggestion is (if you must) try it on wet pavement in an open area until you get ballsy enough to try it when dry. The funny thing is, it's about the slowest way imaginable to turn around, it just looks cool and makes your passengers think you know how to drive.
