I'd have to agree with unknown on that one..and of course it comes down to the drivers also.

If the same engine and transmission is in all cars, the IROC-Z.

I thought the GTA's were lighter for one because they don't have GFX.

My formula 350 does not have ground effects either. I think some gta's have ground effects.

Every single GTA had GFX.i'd say formula is fastest, just as light and more aerodynamic

It doesn't have that good of an air intake though. It makes a difference.

The formula is the only one with a real shot of taking out the Camaro everything else being equal, but I wouldn't bet on it... That's assuming bone stock cars, once you do some custom cold air on both cars and eliminate the formula's choker the formula might actually be ahead though (think they're slightly lighter than a IROC).

the GTA and Iroc weigh about the same..but everyone keeps forgetting...the GTA's have some of the lightest rims produced..much lighter than those formula or Iroc rims..wheel weight is something to think about...as far as the camaro winning "every time" think again...my car ran a 14.7 from the factory...i've seen some 350 Irocs run much slower than that...

i forgot where i read it but pontiac 3rd gens are way heavier than chevrolet third gens. plus the air intake factor alone is another blow for pontiacs.

fly89GTA: wheel weight isnt that important. And I've seen and looked over a bone stock 90 IROC with no CAI, no catback, stock wires, paper filter, stock everything from what I could tell. With only 54000 miles it made 3 13.9 passes at 96MPH on some sort of Yokohama tires. I told him thats probably the fastest stock 350 thirdgen ever. He said, "What's a thirdgen?"

You guys will never get a straight "correct" answer at this.. remember that not every car rolls out of the factory exactly the same.

Since all the engines were rated the same, you should technically allow them to all have the same power stock, so you're left contending with the body. The bodies are nearly identical, except that IROCs, GTAs (all of them), TAs, and Z28s all have ground effects, causing greater drag and more weight, so throw them all out. Left over, you have the base camaro (which after certain years, they got all ground effects too, didn't they?) and the Firebird and Formula. Since the Formula is available with a 350 TPI, and no ground effects (and Firebirds ARE more aerodynamic anyway, it's a fact), it's the winner. In fact, now that I think of it, isn't the Formula the only 350 TPI in the f-body lineup that doesn't have GFX?

Of course, I own one, so I'm partial...

I think it could run 13.9. BM92Z ran a 14.1 STOCK. Another dude with a STOCK L98 here set his timing to 14 and ran a 14.2. With the right things a good L98 could probably do that, most don't, but there are some.

what is up with you guys? "Ground effects increase drag and make the car heavier" Yeah, sure, ground effects are gonna make the car slower, please. Why do you think ground effects were designed? They were designed to better the airflow. They direct air out and around. Where do you think all that air goes on your formula? It hits that big 6 inch long splash guard you got down there and then is directed up into the engine compartment, if anything formulas are the least aerodynamic of the three. I agree with the other guys, I think camaro would win because of the air flow to the intake system.
