Edged a Fox body GT out by a hoodlength to 65, 3rd gen camaro wouldn't play

Not a bad night on my way to take Amelia home tonight. Coming down Rt. 10 at the last stoplight before 295 I pulled up beside a White fox body GT with maroon? (it was dark) racing stripes. I was in the lane that gets off at 288 South and we needed to go north, so I figured it was a good "excuse" to race. I looked over at him, gave him a nod, he pointed forward and when the light turned green, it was on. He spun off the line as I crept off until I was at a point I could punch it. I jumped ahead so that his front bumper was at between my front wheel and cowl and that's pretty much where it stayed until I shut down at 65 because I'd ran out of room and needed to get over so I dropped in behind him. I gave a wave, and he flashed his signals and that was that. I'd say it's probably the tightest race I've had on the street in almost a year.

After Amelia and I had gotten onto 295 I spotted a 3rd gen. Camaro about 30 yards ahead so I sped up to catch him. In retrospect, I didn't see any badging that would lead me to think it was a V8, so he probably thought I was picking on him. Anyway...I dropped into 3rd and bucked a couple times but he didn't bite so I dropped it back into OD and drove on.

All in all, I was pretty happy with getting at least one good race with that GT.

Ya a v6 camaro I don't think wants to play with a notchback mustang..hehe..although when I had my 87' sport coupe camaro with a carbed 305 I would never back down from a challenge..even if I knew I was going to get killed. But sometimes you suprise yourself. Like the time I kept up with a 87' or so GT on the highway..when he finally edged by me he looked puzzled(he probably thought it was a v6) as most people thought..
