Rear for the street

I have a 350, 700R4, 2.73 rear and with my minor engine mods (exhaust, headers, chip, modified TPI) I pretty much smoked an 88 GTA that was telling me people that he has beatin.

Some of these people I wouldnt even have thought i could beat, but I believe him, and i beat him

My question is, for short street racing, if Im allready doin that good would a 3.42 posi 4th gen rear help or hurt me.

That would be a huge gain. Probably knocking .4 off your 1/4. If you're only interested in the street, then why not go with 3:73s. Some will say a stock TPI won't do to good with 3:73s but you say you've done some mods to it.

My mods are nothing inside of the engine. I have Ported (poorly) and siamesed Plenum, SLP Siamese Runners, Edelbrock T.E.S headers, Catco High Flow cat, Borla 3" cat-back, Jet Stage II Chip thats about it

I wasn't talking about internals, just the TPI induction system itself. But either way, those gears are gonna wake your car up.

depending on how much you like low rpm cruising on the highway , go 3.42 . i hated my 3.73s and 3.42s gave me the best of both worlds , great low end grunt yet the ability to cruise at low rpms on the highway @70mph . the 3.42s seem to work best with the 700r4 especially with the stock tc .
