If it's TBI, then it came out of a caprice or a truck chances are. I've run with an RS and I doubt your gonna hang with him with a basically stock TBI 350 and 3.08 gears.

Re: 350 tbi vs 2010 camaro rs winner?

Those new V6 camaros have 300Hp but they may weight a little though. But even a stock 350TPI Z28 would have a fight with a 2010 Camaro V6.

So if your talking a stock TBI 350 then its not looking good at all unless the other person cant drive.

I wouldn't necessarily say he has no chance. The TBI 350 makes plenty of torque at stupid low rpms. Enough that I have seen a RCSB 93 TBI truck run 14.8s and it was stock save for a timing advance, quarter mod on the fuel pressure regulator, and straight piped. My TBI G20 van went 10.20s in the 1/8 with only an edelbrock TBI intake, doug thorley headers, and custom tuning by me and that was with the 8.75:1 compression 1-ton 8800+ GVW 350 TBI engine.

The new Camaro V6 cars are DOGS....I raced one in my 2003 4.7 extended cab Dakota and had several bus lengths on him by 100 mph. The Dakota has cams, headers, exhaust, tuning, but its still only a low 14 second truck.

Re: 350 tbi vs 2010 camaro rs winner?

Well this car as long as I'm on the gas is as long as it will burn out. Has a lot of power but also has extra backpressure with the glasspack AND magnaflow witha filthy stock air cleaner. But I love the limited slip. Even tho its 3.08 gears. But yes horrible driver is on my side.

Maybe on stock tires and in factory specifications in 3000+ DA. I will maintain that I have seen a well maintained, STOCK L98 car run 14.20s and a STOCK LB9/5spd car run 13.9. Its called negative DA and it really helps. That 14.30 could have been run in -2000 da for all we know. In +3000 DA the same car will be a ~15.00 second car. I've raced in -2500 DA at 600 ft elevation with a northern blowing it that started to freeze the water in the water box. Its amazing the difference DA can make.

I saw a 97 LT1/Automatic car run a 13.1 on the same day also stock save for an Moroso intake and Catback.

haha funny stuff, like I said, I have seen faster TPI cars. Hell a STOCK L03 TBI went 15.1 recently. 6* timing advance and a lid flip.

My quad cab ram and crew cab Titan would kill your buddies little V6. Titan was only rated 317 HP stock has a CAI, Magnaflow muffler, and a Hypertech tuner otherwise its stock.

Certainly unimpressive times for a V6 in a light car that claims 300 HP. A 300 HP L98 would run high 12s.

I just watched a LB9/T5/G92 car click off a 14.7 in a video at ~3,000 feet elevation.

In 1990 Motortrend pulled a 14.6 out of a 305/5spd and a 14.4 out of a 350/Auto.

Several stockish L98 times in this thread.

https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/orga...stock-l98.html

Its amazing what a 2-4* timing bump with a cool engine will run.

My advice to you is make sure you have a 350 chip and injectors. Check the fuel pressure and adjust it to about 12.5-13 psi. Run 91 octane fuel and bump the timing to 4-8° btdc. Ideally you would want to adjust both to give the highest trap speed on the track. I would vouch that a properly running TBI 350 should have no issue running with a TPI 350.

I think you will lose in most cases. Its the 5th gens race to lose. Power to Weight is in the 5th gens favor. His only place to lose will be the launch, he screws that up you might win if the race is short enough.

Bumping the timing, would that make my car rev higher st idle or lower. Because he said it was a pain to det the idle on the car. Is there someone here who sells chips already?

Sorry to get off subject on those post.

Best way to find out is to race him. Hook up and bump that timing a tick like other said and you could get him.

That's what I'm saying. Lol. If I don't burn out I can't get him off the jump every time. Should I be in drive or 1st to get a clean jump?

Unless you have some kinda manual valvebody, you should be putting the car into D for drag racing. Let it shift on its own, it will be faster.

As I said, If it's a stock 350 TBI your probably gonna lose. The most power they had stock was in the caprice cop cars and I think that was only 225 HP as I recall, and the trucks only had about 200. This thread might help some: https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/tbi/...p-numbers.html

I am making about 310-320 HP and about 400 TQ. at the block on my 350. I had a 2010 camaro RS slow down in front of me on an onramp to about 10 MPH and then drop to first (manual) and boot it, I was ready for him and went after him. I ran right with him and just before he lifted at about 80-85, I was pulling on him. Granted I had timing issues then and should have pulled better, but I don't think your gonna beat him in the 1/4 if he can drive and if your motor is stock.
Only one way to really find out though, go run him and let us know what happens.

So i went on youtube and watch about 10 videos of v6 camaro dynos and the best one i could come up with that was avg hp and tq ratings heres the video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v9ujpyG3uK0 if thats the case my 305 tbi would get a v6 camaro for a lil while since my hp is 202 hp and 268 tq to the tires

I highly disagree, why let the slush box shift at 4,200??? Doesn't make sense to me, especially on the 1-2 shift.

Thanks ill read that thread, but I think its from a truck sounds like one when I'm on the gas. And pulls harder then any caprice I been in. But I will race after I get a new air cleaner and the glasspack off

Re: 350 tbi vs 2010 camaro rs winner?

HELP!!! 87 camaro tpi code 34. car runs great. dont think its a maf problem. code comes on every time you start her up 5 seconds later. i think its a vacum issue. cruise isnt working. canister only has 1 vac line working, its the one hooked up to the purge valve. all other lines hooked up to canister have no vac. pvc line has vac, so does regulator, brakes. the other odd thing is that on the passanger side from the valve cover to the tpi, their is a small amount of vacum thats not the same as the pvc side driver side. any help would be nice.
