1992 Pontiac Firebird vs BMW E30

My pretty much stock 305 TBI, only slight mods, I have a flowmaster muffer and a 180 thermostat. And my buddy has a 6cyl E30 5 speed all stock and he says that he would beat me. What do you guys think?

Re: 1992 Pontiac Firebird vs BMW E30

E30s inline 6 had up to 169hp ? If my calculations are correct, I'm not that into BMW, the car itself weighs 2,900 to 3,030lbs vs a 305 firebird weighing 3,200 lbs with 170 crank hp, I don't know, even with a tune up like NGK Sparkplugs, Pennzoil High mileage & new K&N air & oil filters with freshly inflated tires and even with the Flowmaster 80's series exhaust, 3" Catback of course you would still have to have a pretty good launch and perfect manual shifting of the auto from 1st to OD to pull out a win.

That's for the 318i, the four cylinder. He isn't racing the four though but rather the six.

Re: 1992 Pontiac Firebird vs BMW E30

It's a mid 15 second car I'd say.

The E30 m3 evolution is still only a mid 14 second car.

I just ran an older e30 in my 01 chrysler and was none too impressed. He pulled less than a car on me by 60. You should stomp it even with that lo3
