88 l98 vs 5th gen v6 camaro
a few weeks back i was cruising down a main road thru my town and came up on a black 5th gen camaro.(45-50mph) i kinda knew what was gonna happen but i looked his way and he was already waitin. so i honked 3x and got **** on. heard him chirp into 3rd and watched a puff of smoke leave his exhaust. i knew they were supposed to be quick but that maro was discouraging ,so i limped home and played ps3 that night.

The V6 Camaros run mid to high 14s. It wouldn't be hard to get an L98 car to be quicker. The 2.77s really kill you.
You went from a roll too, and that is not exactly a Tuned Port motor's strong point.

Get a 3.42 rear and a stall conv and run him from a dig and he will shi* all in his pants up until 50mph.

Granted It does weigh 3700 pounds. It has around 278 ft-lbs. @ 5100 so from a dig in the quarter mile you would have him stock if my physics ad up, and your car runs Good and puts the power to the ground.

Re: 88 l98 vs 5th gen v6 camaro
Those V6 camaros run hard i raced one 3 times, twice from a dead stop and i was at his rear quarter panal untill he pulled away half a car length. From a 20 mph roll it was close. He was auto but I am sure if the kid knew how to drive it he would have handed me my $%#@! He just floored it all three times and used his paddle shifter unwisely.

Re: 88 l98 vs 5th gen v6 camaro
I have three friends with v6 camaros and granted they are pretty fast I still walked all over them from a dig.......only one I haven't raced is the 6 speed 2012 and I believe it to be the fastest one of them all......he let me drive once and when I showed him what power shifting was he made me get out.......when you wind it out it runs damn good......would most likely hand it to me on top end.......I'm just a bolt on l98 as well

Re: 88 l98 vs 5th gen v6 camaro
I had an '89 auto with 3.07s... 100% stock it ran 13.90 at 99mph.
With a cut filter lid and K&N drop in, airfoil, ported plenum, bumped timing, Holley AFPR (48psi), a Flowmaster catback, and the "frisbee" deleted, I ran a 13.44 at 102mph. Adding a set of drag radials dropped that to a 13.20 at 104mph. The TPI Corvettes respond really well to simple mods, and are killer from a dead stop.
On the street from a roll, though, they kind of suck. I have no doubt the V6 Camaro looked as though it would hang with your brother's car from a 50 roll. However, at the dragstrip, a L98 C4 would put lengths on one in the first 60ft, and continue pulling from there. A stock V6 5thgen is a mid 14 sec car
