89 5 speed 305 tpi and an l98 of the same Caliber
I have an 89 Formula... all stock. 3.45 rear end, T5 WC, 305 tpi, Dual cats.
And I have ALWAYS wanted to catch a stock L98 car on the loose on the street, but just haven't had any luck. I haven't even seen a race like that on YouTube. Only thing I've raced was a 86 tpi Corvette and an 04 5 speed Mustang GT. Both were stock both lost. Mustang was a better race though. The corvette owner turned out to be an off duty cop, cool dude.
Anybody have a take on how my dream race would go down? I honestly think it could go either way. But it'd be close. But hey if you're cruising Spokane Wa anytime soon Mr L98...daddy is waiting.

in CI yes 350 is bigger.. but 0-60 it would be neck and neck. I think the 350 would win the 1/4 though but not by much. also depends on how well you can launch and stir the 305
which do people prefer if they could buy as new? 305 tpi 5 speed

Car for car....professional drivers in both...yeah I'm sure the 350 would win. Barely, I'm betting not even a car length....assuming both cars are in the same shape. So as one guy said earlier it'd be a drivers race. Very interesting on the street.

It will come down to launch/driver skill. Having said that, all things being equal, my money is on the L98.

L98/A4 is stupid easy to launch. LB9/M5? Not as easy.
L98 wins. It'll get off the line faster. It'll shift quicker. And it will most certainly trap faster as well.
This assumes drivers are equally skilled.
