I'd give you a good 4-5 car lengths by the end of the race maybe even more.

Even w/o mods, you will kill him. I'd say by 4 maybe 5 carlenghts depending on how far you go.

This guy actually thinks he can take you? or is he just racing you for the fun of it? I sure hope it's the latter...

You'll totally smash him, by 3-4 cars at least... you'll have him off the line bad, and that 350cid will allow you to pull on him the whole time!!

Don't under estimate those TPI305 5speeds.

I don't know,it's a bit iffy, i own a 92 305tpi 1le 25th and i have taken and won some irocs.. not sure what year though. I also beat my friends 85 firebird 350tpi and 87 Z28 305 5-speed. maybe it's the 1le option on my car, suspension, lighter, etc.

ahh what the he!!, I say you'll win. Don't bet money the first time is my advice. Good luck!!

Ive beaten 350 cars before, but I shouldnt have. I think you have him beat by 2-5 lengths, depending on his mods and the condition of his car. Remember to take it easy on the launch. If you spin he might get ya. Us 305 guys just hammer it and go. We dont have to worry too much about traction...just keep that in mind on race day.

a 91 305tpi five speed has close to the same horsepower as your car if it has the dual cat option. It could be a closer race than everyone thinks.

How long of race is it gonna be? In a 1/4 I would go with the 305 because he will get better traction and if its a 5-speed you would still loose. In a long race or on the highway I would go with you. BUt if you get traction in the 1/4 mile race then you wi

Uh wait a minute here.....has everyone forgotten that the 305 TPI in '91 received the L98 camshaft? With G92 the 305 TPI made 230hp and 300tq. Pretty close to the 350 TPI G92. We need a few more specs on these cars before the final decision.

it seems that some of the 305 guys dont want to admit that the 305 wasnt a good motor. Just admit it. the motors were never as good as the 350's. never. So just get over it. If you dont have mods then you will have a close race but you will win.
305 guys dont send me hate mail because you know im right.

hahahahaha it seems that you dont want to admit that the 305 was a good motor. It might not be as good as a 350, but why did Chevrolet continue making them for 20 years then?

305s are good engines and can be made to run with the best of them. I used to have a 85 Z28 carbed 305 and loved that car.

chevy produced the 305 to give in to the gov. smog laws. They needed a motor that put out less emissions. So the 305 was a poor excuse for a 350.
by the way, the 350 has been around for 35 years. almost twice as alond as the 305.

Yeah but I wasnt comparing the 350 and 305 about how long they've been around, you said the 305 wasnt a good motor and I asked you why it was around for 20 years then.

Sounds like one of the 350 guys who has seen my taillights . Like I said, Ive beat an 89 Formula 350. My friend wouldnt believe I had the 305. He insisted that the motor had been swapped at some point.

People have to post crap like that qoute to make themselves feel better because they know their engine cant produce any power.

I hate to see this board coming to this. You guys are fighting each other over something stupid. Seems like a lot of the 350 guys like to rag on 305s and the 305s rag on V6s. I think we should rag on something worth ragging on, like a civic for example. I love my trans am and the engine is tuff as hell but either way you put it all thirdgen engines suck, performance wise, unless you mod them. I can run 14s in my car and it still feels slow to me. Sounds like this race is gonna depend on the driver. I know a guy with a 94 LT1 6 speed that lost to a 91 RS with only an exhaust, air filter and gears. Reason being, the guy with the Lt1 was a ****ty driver. Whoever can drive will win the race. These two engines aren't so overmatched that the 350 will automatically win.

Looks like someone has it in for 350s. This guy is really biased to 350s. I know a few 283s, 305s and 327s that could smoke him. I wonder if 87irocz350 is posting crap like that cause his engine can't produce any power.

Come on now guys...
All it takes to beat a L98 is a good launch, and a mid/high 14 car. For those of you doubting my combo, the 15.0 run was made oct. 2000 before mods

Did the race happen yet?? The 91 has a great chance of winning if he/she knows how to launch.

Let us know what happens!!
