Hehe, good luck bud! My dad's got an 89' LX which is rated at 225 HP ( I think the 95's are too) with some minimal mods, gears, full exhaust, TB, and I have a 91' firebird LO3 with full exhaust K&N, shift kit, and ultimate TB mods. We raced this summer and he ran mid 14's I ran mid 15's. And not surprisingly I haven't sptopped hearing about it yet! I think with some gears and an intake change I might have a chance! As for you, they say the SN-95 body style is about 4-5 tenths slower than the fox body style. Completely stock I'd say he's mid 15's, so with gears you should have him. And when you do, do me a favor and rub it in his face!

Hehehe This bring back memories!! When I was a teen (about 20 years ago), my father and myself had the dad/son competition going on, too. The day I got my license, (I was 16) he gave me a fully restored 73' TA (455-SD, 4-speed, etc...). But, he also went out a got himself a '71 'Mustang MACH I w/302 and 4-speed.

Let's just say that we both had a lot of fun making mods to our cars trying to out do the other!!! (BTW: And when I hit my 20's, then we switched to motorcycles!!! )

It's so cool having a dad who is a gear-head as well. It makes it so much easier when wanting to make mods to your car. At least you don't the "What the heck do you need that for? You can only go as fast as the speed limit!!!!?!?!?!!?" (Yeah, right....what's a speed limit to a true gear-head?!!!!)

Enjoy the competition with pops....

Mike

Depends sometimes. My friend has a '95 Mustang GT, and bone stock he could only muster a best of a 16.1 (automatic). When he put a K & N and Flowmasters on it he was running high 15's.

Even though my RS was babied and in excellent condition, I couldn't muster better than a 17.2 when in stock trim.

I just bought a 94 GT convertible 5 speed that is bone stock that I bought to resell to pay for Camaro mods and after driving both I know that my 91 TBI Camaro will eat that GT up with the mods that I have. I would say the gear was the biggest improvement.

94/95s are kind of slow. AOD and AODEs suck big time. chevy has the automatic thing down way the hellz better than ford. He will beat you now but it shouldnt take a whole lot of work. the TBI mods some exhaust and gears and its over.

Bone stock, low 15's to high 15's. You might get lucky and get a 14.9 out of one....but i doubt it.

But, 5.0's can be made to go just like the older ones. My friend had a 1995 AODE Mustang and ran 15.3 with it stock. He did full exhaust, pulleys, converter and gears and went 14.02 @ 99MPH. Other than pulleys and exhast, motor was stock.

They can easily be set up to haul *** with the right mods (Converter and gear)

You shouldn't have too far to go to take him. If he leaves it bone stock, you should only bee a few tenths off in the quarter. In my eyes the Ford AOD and AODE suck. It takes a good set of gears, shift kit, and a good converter to really feel it like a stick. I don't know why, but it's no fun when you own one.
