just figured I would ask your opinions on that
I honestly think the 350 should have pulled a little better then it did being that the GTUs is prolly a 15.0-15.4 car with the current mods

though freeway racing I dont know
what is the top speed for a slushbox camaro in 3rd? and doesn't the tpi start to puke out at those speeds though? not sure on that so figured I would ask

only real things the rx7 has for it is it is setup for high rpm runs and has a 4.30 rear and maybe a tad bit better aerodynamics

but still the 350 should win I would think

Those GTU's aren't bad little cars! (I almost had one)

Tpi really isnt that bad at high speeds...just high rpm's. The engine will stay below the 4500rpm wall unless you are going faster than 140 in OD or so (at least with my gearing). There is however a "dead spot" in acceleration for me. At around 75mph or so third gear doesnt have much punch...but give it a second and It'll start moving. The fact that the thirdgen was an auto gives it a major disadvantage. But from a dead stop the thirdgen should be all over the rx-7. I dont know about an areodynamic advantage...Its hard to beat a thirdgen fbody.

After saying all that, I can see how things turned out the way they did. I play around with my buddies 96 monte Z34 on the highway all the time. I'll definetly admit I have had to play catch up more than once.

I doubt that thing is more aerodynamic. It needs to beat .29-.34 Cd., Lamborghini level Cd. I think they still hold the title of being the most aerodynamic cars GM ever made.

Also, with some work on the 700R4, it can be made to be 1 mean shifter, don't underestimate the 5.7 Auto's at a stoplight, u never know what the dude might have done to it.

cd on a rx7 is around the .29-.32 range depending on what car you have

the sport has the best out of the 86-91 cars with it being around the .29-30

while the rest are in the .32 range

knew the camaro was close but didn't know for sure. but also you have frontal area and **** like that. oh well

and I agree with you 85transamtpi at a stopligt the 350 would have prolly taken the GTUs
these things are a bitch to launch
while the auto is a hella lot easier
