would i have a chance against a LT1 or maybe even a LS1?
stock vortec heads
XE268H cam 477/480 lift
performer RPM intake
3.73 posi
hoping to get around 10 to 1 compression
should i go with a 650cfm or 750cfm mechanical secondaries?
i've got hooker catback on now.....hopefully i will have the cat gutted by the time the engine swap.....and after i get the engine in there i will go to some headers...........
wouldnt you say this would put me into the 13's....aka the LT1 and LS1 range?
thanks

I'd go with the 650 instead of the 750. If that is still a 305 you may have trouble getting in the 13's unless you do some lightening of the car.

i dont think you can use the rpm intake with vortec style heads , could be wrong but everyone i know had to purchase the intake manifold along with the heads , and as far as breaking 13s , you really should have no problem , a guy on this board is running 13.5s with an lg4 !!!! nothing short of amazing , vortec heads and intake , not too sure on his cam specs , anyway if you want to ask him about his name on here is checkeye i believe . and its a low compression high milage lg4

I managed to beat an early LS1 car with nearly your same set up. Same cam/heads - had head work done, minor porting, springs, 1.6 rr's. I went with 650 dp and had 5sp w/3.45's. I didn't have clearance problems with stock IROC hood w/ rpm intake. Car ran hard, I could stomp it in second gear at around 45-50 and break new firehawk sz50's (255's) loose.
At any rate, really hard to launch w/ 5speed since that cam range was best at nearly 3k - up to around 6k. I pulled the LS1 from about 40-90 (maybe he would have pulled back though, but the red lights came on). I never made it to the track before I sold the car, I would have expected at least 105 trap speed w/ E.T.'s up in the air. With an auto, suspension, slicks, and the right TC, mid 13's I would guess.

If it's a 350 I'd have to say the 750 would be your best bet for performance. If you're looking for a daily driver
then go for the 650
then go for the 650 Thread
