Need to know some 4th gen specs

my friend just bought a 95 formula firebird, 350 6spd. i rode with him last night that car is so fast. but i told him i would race him once i get my new engine. i plan on getting a 350 with over 350 horsepower in about 2 to 3 monthes. whats the 4th gen rated at for the 350 right around 300 or so? my rearend right now is 2.73 but i want to have some 3.42 or 3.73 and have my 700r4 tranny rebuilt this summer also. im thinking i should beat him. what do you guys think?

the 95 fbody LT1 was rated at 275hp. they are capable of high 13s in the quarter if shifted correctly. most i see at the track are in the mid-low 14s, the 6speeds have alot of wheelspin on launches with street tires

Expect the car to go low 14s. With your new motor you should have no problem, unless he mods it.

Anytime a car get into the 14's or faster, traction has ALOT to due with ETs. What tires is he running and which are you? IE I know a guy who ran with 2000SS vert and he ran a blazing 14.8 at 106mph. Because he blew the lauch (M6). Driving has alot to due with it which is in your favor with an auto, but the engine is gonna smoke the crap out of the tires with a TPI engine and 390HP.

Mike92 has a good point. You better have some tires and suspension underneath that car or it is pointless to have a 400 horse motor. Not to metion the fact that TPI creates a lot of torque. As far as the 95' is concerned, I have never lost to a stock 93'-98' f-body since my very first mod and only running 14.60's. But, that doesn't mean anything either. Just my opinion. Good luck, sounds like a good start.

My 1994 Trans Am GT auto ran 13.94 and my friends 1995 Formula 6-speed ran a 13.89.

I'm glad to see someone has modded those cars. The fastest one I've seen was a 93' Z that ran a 13.76 @ the track two weekends ago. What do you have done Cody?
