*whew*, im glad that when i read this you said that your motor wasnt stock. i was about to go insane if it was the stock Lo3 and you were asking how you'd fare against the cobra. even with that combo, even if the cam is indeed a mean one
you will probably lose, those cobra's are bad ***.

ALSO ARE THERE ANY MODS THAT I CAN USE TO HELP ME? I HAVE A TIGHT BUDGIT SEEING THAT IM AM 16 AND ALL. AND I BUY EVERYTHING MYSELF. I AM THINKING ABOUT SPRAYING IT BUT I COULD ONLY DO ABOUT A 175 SHOT TOPS SINCE I HAVE CAST PISTONS AND CRANK
BUT I DONT KNOW IF I REALLY WANT THAT SC TO STAND FOR SPORT COMPACT. I WAS TOLD THAT THE GUY THAT HAD IT BEFORE ME WAS MAKING 345HP WHEN HE HAD DOUBLE HUMP HEADS AND HEADERS THAT GO TO STRAIGHT 3 IN PIPES. ANY HELP AT ALL WOULD BE APPRECIATED. I MAY BE YOUNG BUT I DONT DRIVE COMPACTS

try running a set of Vette aluminum L98 heads in place of those 350 TBI heads youre sporting now. they shouldnt cost over $300 used. they are a bolt in application, provided your cam lift isnt over .500". you should see gains of a half second or more in the quarter mile

You don't stand a chance, you don't even have headers or a 3" cat-back, unless I missed something. You're going to need better heads, full exhaust, and assuming an auto a TC.
I was behind a 96-98 Cobra at a stoplight and he took off and I babied it until 15mph then punched it, he switched lanes and I started Slowly walking on him by the top of 1st gear. He had another person in the car, so with just him it would have been about even. The new Cobra have a bit more weight (IRS) but have more HP and torque that more than makes up for it. I'd say mid 13's on stock tires. BTW My buddy with a 98Z28 auto and a few bolt-ons(Lid, K&N, muffler) and barely pulled a new cobra to 100mph, only 1-1/2carlengths so there pretty quick. Take your car to the track!

It's a never ending debate, Some say 13's some say 14's.
But from what I have seen here in Nebraska, (By the way home of HP MOTORSPORT which means lots of Mustangs) most 99-02 Cobras are running high 13's. Yu get the occasional K&N and Flowmasters and they run mid 13's. Never seen one go low 13's without bolt-ons.
MIKE92 can your bud drive, LS1's should hand any close to stock Cobra it's a$$. Especially if the LS1 has the Lid and K&N plus the different muffler.

Do yourself a favor and save the money you would have spent on a nitrous kit, and get some gear!
2.73's...
If you have a "mean cam" then better gears will only help you more. I'd go 3.42's at least...possibly 3.73's
Look at your car as a whole, not just the motor. You'll end up with a much better matched, better performing car.
EDIT: Oh yeah, a stock 01-02 cobra will smoke ya right now. Sorry.

Now that I think of it, I forgot that was around the time he had a local shop put in a "custom" piece of piping on the driver's side and it was hitting the chasis enough that we THINK it might have been putting the OBD2 comp in a fit and messing with the fuel, spark curve thinking it was slight detonation. The Cobras are very quick if the driver is good. I have seen a video of a brand new LS16speed with two people in the car get walked by a 01 Vert cobra. Yes I've seen it, don't know how good the driver was but the 01-up cobras are putting like 280-290rwhp on the dyno. The 96-98 will run high 13's in the hands of a good driver, which is about right since I walked one with two people in it.
