O.K. here is the deal.....I have a friend that has a late 80's model GTA. He has done a few mods to it....it is a 350 TPI, Auto with Cold air intake& hooker exhaust. Where as i have a 92 Z28 5 speed with a 305 TPI, home made ram air, no cat, moroso racing muffler dumped & K&N air filters. i don't know what his rear gear is but i know that mine is 3.08. We are always saying how we are going to line up but haven't got the chance to yet. What do you guys think about the situation?

If he has 2.70 gears or something of the sort, it'll be a really close race and depend mostly on the driver. If he has any gears numerically higher than that, it's in his favor. You'll have some trouble, but still have a chance of beating him.

 

u dont have the g92 option code?

i think if he has drum brakes in rear he will probaly have 2.7 gears

 

He will be running mid 14's. I don't really know what you would run. A L98 with a catback isnt too shabby. I'm assuming its a MAF car, around 235 hp/ 340 tq.

 

I'd say he'll take you if you don't have the G92. Didn't those run mid 14's with minor mods?

well i'll update you when it happens..........oh one thing i forgot to mention.....he isn't exactly the best of drivers. I think if i play my cards right i could take him!

 

i havn't even had a 305 try me but he should win most and i say most not all gta's had a 3.27 rear gear

 

If its an L98 GTA (pre '90) it'll have a 3.27 posi disc rear end. This race should be close, as much as i'd love to say his GTA would dust your z. GTA's ran low 15's stock and your z28 probably runs a little faster than that stock..

 

I think he's going to toast you. No offense, but, he has a 350 with headers and exuast. He should have you. I ran 15.00 completely stock. With only headers and a flowmaster, 14.6 w/a 2.12 60ft. But that's just my opinion. Race him and find out, only way to know for sure. Good luck.

 

I vote GTA. Cold air and a good exhaust really wake these cars up.
