Jacobs Electronics is a screwed up company
IMHO Jacobs Electronics is a screwed up company. I still have great respect for their products but are they ever MESSED up as an organization -- atleast since the last time I dealt with them back in 1994.
FYI: I have been trying to call Jacobs tech support for over three weeks now and cannot get through. I get some airhead message about this and that and advised to call back later and then get hung up on.
I called the sales line and got an OEM shop in Colorado who has an exclusive on Jacobs sales who says Jacobs has been bought by so-and-so in Virginia and is moving their offices from Texas to the east coast. Well that explains the ZERO tech-support help.
The sales guys won't help me one iota with my wiring problem (got the wrong harness for a GM small coil). So here I am with my hi-tech ignition system and will have to make my own wiring setup because the JERK-OFFS at Jacobs are so screwed up I can't get the right part off them. (The sales people haven't a clue what I am talking about).
My advice ? Don't buy anything from Jacobs until you hear many happy stories from many happy customers. I for one wish I would have put my money into a decent set of headers instead.
As for the wiring, I could use some help with the coil schematic as it appears I am going to have to solve this on my own. Our external coils have two connectors, one grey and one black. Each connector has two wires attached to it, a red wire and a white wire. Does anyone know which is positive and which is negative ? What each wire is for ? Any help is appreciated.
thx,
RP.

palric, I sent you a private message with a scan of the wiring diagram.
It appears the black wire is ground, pink wire NOT going to distributor is from the Ignition switch, and white NOT going to the distributor is going to the instrument cluster (so probably tach wire).
