Running Hot???????

Have a question about the temperature in which my cooling fan should kick in. Right now its about 112. Is this normal???
If so what can i do to bring this temp down, so that the car runs cooler?? I really dont like it running so warm, and to be honest neither does the car
Any info would be greatly appreciated.

you can change your thermosat to a 180 or 160 and you can change your fan temp switch to a 180 or 160 also.

i use to run hot like that. i changed to 160 on both. it runs nice and cool around 80 and just under 100 in trafic.

I use a GM 170* 'stat. I used to have a Hypertech chip (POS) and 160* 'stat and my heater never worked. When I switched to the 170, the heater started working. I'd also recommend drilling 2 small holes in the outer rim of the 'stat to allow a continuous flow of coolant. Also, try Redline Water Wetter in the summer. It works great. I also have my secondary fan wired to my primary fan. When the ecm turns the primary on, the secondary turns on as well.

Wow, Paul who came up with that neat fan trick, I'd like to do that as well.

The PRM chip I installed turns the fan on super super early, so basically it is running all the time, except about for the first 5 minutes in the morning.

I have a 180 stat in my car, as far as wiring goes, I spliced my 12 V cig lighter feed to a switch then thru the firewall and spliced to the power feed of my fan. When 180 comes along or higher I flip it on. I'm gonna wire a LED later so I can tell its on. On the same switch (its a 3 position switch, I have my TCC lockup. I thought of it this way, if my TCC is on, I'm gunning it and will be more than fast enough to keep it at operating temp, if my fan is on I'm more or less stationary.

Actually, your TCC locks up when you're cruising in the city too, as long as your speed stays constant, the TCC will kick in. The chip I got for the car clicks on the fan super early, and it clicks the fan on when I reach 60km/h, around there

The TCC switch is purely for 1/4 mile and performance launches. In standard operation, the TCC will only lockup in 4th. With a switch, you get to use it in 2nd and 3rd gear too. You can't use it in first because there simply isn't enough pressure in the transmission to make it lockup.
