Couldn't help myself, HAD to see what the new hood would look like on my car...it's back off now until it gets painted, but MAN did it ever look ghetto! lol The 2nd pic shows our bad (quick) alignment job, and the third pic is a couple of our rides at a local beach...enjoY!

It's off of a Formula Firebird (Eclipse or Talon...? Now THERE'S a hood that would fit... )- and no, your eyes don't deceive you, that is a single bulge....

Looking good Azure.... get her painted up...

Why is this the best thread?

Oh, and dave... you say you have a 350 crank in your 307? I thought 305's had 350 cranks already? I know they are the same stroke.

The 350 and the 305 have always shared the same crank. It is only in their bore where they differ. The stroke has always been the same for the 305 and 350, thus there is nothing to gain by putting in a 350 crank in a 305. They are identical.

I could be wrong but I don't think 305 and 350 cranks interchange. They share the same stroke, but the counter weights on the crank are different between the two.

1982-1984 Trans Ams had the power bulge hood and then the Firebird Formulas until 1992. If you see any older TA, you will see that hood. Not uncommon at all. I could have used one on Saturday for the installation of my intake manifold, as I have little or no hood clearance

I have a question. Did the power bulge on the f-birds have any functionality like cowl induction or engine clearance, or was it cosmetic only like the hood louvers on the camaros?

Also can anbody photoshop a power bulge on the other side, so that it would have 2 bulges on either side like a cowl hood. I think that would look pretty sweet.

The 1982-84 cowl inductions would have a solenoid that would open when the engine was under load to allow more air into the carb. Later on it became more of a cosmetic thing as carburators became obsolete on the Firebirds.Trans Ams had the louvered hood from 1985-1992 to allow excess heat to be removed from under the hood.
BTW, that photoshop pic does look pretty cool. If only someone could make a hood like that.

I had the bulge opened up (when the hood was on), and found the engine ran noticably cooler, two ticks or so on the temp display...more of a hot-air outlet then anything, I guess.

it's actually off of a 3.8 Turbo GN...I'm not sure the exact year. It really looks good, especially from the front.
