my night at sparta

howdy fellas....hopefully everyone is well tonight. well johnyIROC and i hit the track at sparta tonight. it was a good night. jason's headers and cutout helped him out, even though he still cant hookup. i had an interesting night. the secondaries on my carb are messed thanks to me breaking the AV spring that keeps them closed and allows them to open gradually and prevent bogging. there is no longer any tension on the Air valves, however, when the car is on the vacuum unit they are hooked up too keeps them closed and stays on too long........so they dont really open quick enough......but since the AV spring is broken this having too much vacuum keeps my car from bogign ridiculously bad. so for my first run i pulled up and mashed the gas when it was time and wham...she almost stalls.......so i pulled off an impressive 18.0x run....hmmmmmm.....i payed 15 bucks to have to embrass myself?

however, i soon solved the bogging problem by launching at 1200 rpm instead of 900. i had 8 or 9 runs and car ran real strong after that horrible first pass.

anyway my ture dual exhaust mod was worht it.....by the end of the night i had dropped over 3 tenths off my best ever E.T. and picked up nearly 5 MPH over my best trap speed.

final results:

old best ET: 15.69@88.39 MPH

new best ET: 15.32@90.71 MPH

new best MPH: 15.34@92.95 MPH

i am pleased with my 84 LG4, 700r4 equipped Trans AM

Hey, nice going.
It was a good night for being at the track. I thought about going.
Wish I had.

How is the track prepped on a Friday night? I've often thought about going then but usually just do a Sat T&T.

i am not realy sure how the track is prepped for fridays.........i go friday nights cause its cheaper, only 15...compared to 30 for saturday, and i work 7 days a week and night is the only time i can go. it was very busy last night. as for prep methods...i am not sure if they glue it or what...i dont have to many traction issues in my LG4 powered TA.

I heard they don't spray the track on Fridays, unless theres a water or oil down. It is tough getting a bite.

Everyone complains about the track conditions on Fridays.... it gets REAL slippery real fast. I still don't have posi, so this is especially bad for me.

I think I'll just stick to Saturday's. I did do a Fri night street racing at Grand Bend. It was so busy I only got 3 runs in all night.
