Anybody know someone working here?

Paul's Collision & Auto Body Phone: (416)481-3759

267 Merton St, Toronto

From the information that IROCKER has supplied me it is looking like my IROC had a very colourful life between 1995 and 1999!!!

Seems that she was owned by one owner from 1987 - 1995. Then she was either wrecked by the owner or stolen and wrecked because she then went to Impact Auto Auction...from there she went to Paul's Collision and Auto Body. Where she sat from March - 95 to November - 95 . Most likely to be repaired and cleaned up.

From Paul's she went back to auction, bought by a generic named company and sold 4 days later on November 7th-95 to a private owner. From there this owner most likely owned the car until she was brought until NFLD in 1999.

I am not sure if I want to find out the grisly details of when she was either stolen/wrecked or wrecked....

But do anybody know someone at Paul's that could give me the scoop on how bad she was wrecked?

Here's the way i see it.

Obviously you love your car, otherwise you wouldn't be spending so much time into finding out it's past history.

My suggestion, let sleeping dogs lay.

You just came across some bad news about the car which may/maynot make you look at your car in a totally different way. I would just forget about it. It's your car now, it looks/runs nice now, live with it, and have fun with it. Forget about the past.

I agree- it's doubtful that an '87 Iroc will ever really be considered a 'must-have' car and it's history won't be relevant to anyone else (i.e. shows or such)- so why not leave it alone- it may only make you paranoid.

Yeah I suppose your right....

She is my car now... and she do look and run great... I started this search just to find out her history (how many owners), how long they had her....like did she have a dozen hard driving owners..or just one owner like me that took care of it...

Either way I guess it doesn't really matter....live with it I guess... who cares how bad of an accident she was in... it's irrelavant now I suppose

I am just glad that I followed through on the search....I am the 4th owner/driver ... 1 owner had her from 87-95, then another from 95-99, third owner here in NFLD from 99-01 and hopefully I will be the last

Before I wrote this post I did call that Auto Body place in Toronto and the guy I spoke with said it wasn't his shop (I got the city wrong it was a Paul's Auto Body shop in Mississauga which I have no listing)...he seemed like a good guy... we chatted a bit and he seemed interested about the F-Body scene once I told him it was a 87 IROC-Z that I was inquiring about, he said that most likely the car was wrote off by the insurance company back in 1995 because of economics not structural damage.... he asked me what was replaced and I told him that I knew for sure that the rad support, hood, front bumper cover, drivers side wheel well and fender were replaced He said that would cost a fair chunk of change to get replaced/repaired but not necessarily a huge amount of structural damage. All it would take would be a nice drivers side front end collision.

I did have my car checked by a body shop a few months ago before I got her painted and they said there was no signs of chassis straightening and that my chassis was straight.

Let sleeping dogs lie I suppose

I would love to be able to talk to the original owner of my car, see if she had any pics of it and what her thoughts were on the cars reliability and moreover why she decided to get rid of it. I believe that she just handed it in at the end of the lease and got something else. After all IROC converts were a bit pricey in the day and I guess the buy out would still be high at the end of the lease.

I often reflect upon the fact my camaro belonged to my father... then I reflect upon his history with the f-body and I get paranoid... then I tell myself out of all the f-body's he's owned (4) this is the only one that survived him past 2 years... and then I can rest easy at night knowing that...

As for history I was with him when most of it happened and then some... left turn gunning... that's a right rear quarter panel gone and replaced... the odd high curb incident.. courtesy of my mother driving it prior...

I'm glad I know the history of my car much to the point I know full well why somethings are the way they are in my car...

For you, I'd suggest the not knowing route... if it ain't broke don't fix it...
