very rare, very unreliable
X-fire injection is what GM was into in the early 80s -- before they figured out what EFI should be when it grew up.
It showed up on many Vettes and some f-bodies, alot of Cadillacs I think the craziest was the 2-4-6-8 cylinder cut-out versions on the Cadillac but that is alot of history.
The X-fire used many theories from the old dual-carb Z28 style manifolds. They were known as "MIS-fire" injection because they screwed up so often, mis-fired and were known for rough idles. I am sure someone will show up saying how GOOD THEY WERE but I will never be convinced. I knew some people who had them and they were a constant tune-up on the go. Most got replaced with carbs which was what the X-fire was supposed to replace....
Pretty rare though. Should be in a vintage museum.

The vettes got them back in the 80's although a good amount of z-28's too. It's not the most reliable setup in stock form, brought up to today's level in technology and knowledge of how to get these systems to work, they can be very good performers. The only problem is yeah it takes a good amount of work and yeah with money anything can be fixed. If you do get one, go with an x ram intake with bored out throttle bodies and chip tuning. Once that's reliable, then you can do the standard headers, cam, heads mods to match the improvement in intake delivery.
Basically treat this setup as a double TBI intake, because that's essentially what it is.

IMHO modern TBIs as in post '87 era are on the contrasry, bullet proof last forever never die even when they run like crud they still do ok...
