Car math web-site

Anybody checked this web-site out before? I think it's a cool site but just how accurate is the math? Can we trust the results?

My car weighs 3600pds with me in it and no aftermarket stero. Just stock equipment all around. I ran a best time of 15.551 ET and my best mph was 90mph. These were achieved on different runs. I left my slips at home but Slade1 can confirm actual numbers.

Anyways this was my results according to the math calculations:

Estimated HP using weight and best et = 189.20hp

Estimated ET and MPH using weight and hp(189.20) = 15.54 ET/ 87.74mph
(Slade1 check your slip..these numbers just about a match!)

Now here is the tricky part...

Estimated HP using weight and best mph = 204.82
(That's a big difference. Almost 15hp)

Estimated ET and MPH using weight and hp = 15.13 ET/ 90.09

By using ET and MPH to determine hp I got two different hp ratings. Which is more accurate, I don't know. Using ET gave me almost exact time and speed at the track. The MPH gave me a faster time but a speed that I've already reached. I'll post my time slips tomorrw of my runs with my best ET and MPH. Also I guess after Saturday we'll find out just how accurate this math is. Than again.......how accurate is the dyno???????

Something to think about and at the same time play with for fun.
All you need obviously is your car weight, best ET and MPH at the track.

Hey Slade1 are these results comparable to your math equations that you use?

They are the same equations to a certain degree, but they don't take into account many factors. Traction being by far the largest in affecting the times.

Take two cars with radically different HP and torque outputs. One may slip during launch and gear shifts the other doesn't. Both reach the quater mile at the end with same speed and ET, but if we were to believe these equations alone then both cars would be identical.

That's the flaw in these equations, only time, speed and weight are taken into account. They don't compare true power which is torque and that can't be measured at by these numbers.

Would you believe that palric's car has only 200 HP? That's what those equations would have you believe. Unfortuneately, he's got much more power than that, so much more that he can't transfer it to the ground.

The numbers you produced as well, one is a rear wheel number the other is a flywheel number.

It will tell you the necessary power required to accelerate a certain weght to a certain speed in a certain amount of time. These numbers are very optimistic though. Neither the track or dyno alone will tell you how well you use the power you got.

The best way to guage performance and efficiency is to do both the dyno and track runs.

Dyno says I do 150 HP, Track says I do 180? Which is right?

My car is setup to make the most of the power I have... 150 rwhp says the dyno... calculator says I do 16.8 and 81 mph... James would be jumping in the air if that was true hehe
