Question about possible problem... hmmm...!

I just notice that whenever I start my car up in the mornings and I get in, if I push the rpms to 3000 while warming up my car I hear a loud pop sound after it reaches 3000 and goes back down. This is while in park.... Hmmm....?

Water build up. One of the producs of combustion is water after all...

I can get my car to spit out water provided the rest of the car isn't warmed up... kinda funny to see and hear lotsa popping sounds as water condenses and vaporizes all along the exhaust system...

this is more likely than what Slade was saying..or a combo..moisture on a weak ignition system ..result misfire,backfire,crossfire..

should i be worried about this at all? i mean if i let the car warm up for 2 minutes it's fine after that.

it's just in the first minute if i rev the engine up a bit it pops at 3000 rpms.

Well I took into consideration that it is his morning starts...

if it happened everytime he gunned 3000 rpm, then backfire would be a guess... but since its just in the morning while warming up, odds are its just morning condensation from a cold car...

Moisture would dry when the car warms up so it only happens in the morning....Not every car pop above 3000RPM in the morning..Does this mean these cars dont get moisture?

Other possibility is since the ECM enrichens the mixture on startup..Its the unburnt gases being burnt after the combustion chamber..

Actually I would say it's more like Daz's second suggestion...the initial enrichment that the ECM creates when starting the car. FIrst off, no need to rev it to 3000 when first starting it up. This won't warm it up and quicker and may cause more damage then not. Just let it idle for about 30 seconds and you're ready to go.

i thought you had a 5spd...and 5spds dont have park do they? just bustin your chops..but irocker is soo right..dont rev your car as soon as you start it...there isnt any oil in the chambers and its metal on metal..not a good thing...as for your problem..if you only get it in the morning id say its slades remedy.. my buddies stang(oh no evil 5 letter word) always "backfires" when he starts it...day/or night and his problem is he has way too much fumes left in his car when he shuts it off(dazs remedy there) dont worry about it if its only in the morning and for goodness sake dont rev the car until you are actually driving it on the road and are at 190 degrees at least..(the car is warm by then)
