Holley carb question

Hey all those that run carbed engines, I just picked up the spring kit for my vacuum secondaries. On Dyno Day, I discovered that my secondaries weren't opening until very late. Too stiff of a spring, so I bought the kit. I have installed the short yellow spring, after I had tried the longer yellow spring. What exactly am I looking for? I didn't notice anything overly different.I am not too knowledgeable when it comes to fine tuning a carb. I will be bringing the kit to the track tomorrow, so if anyone has any insight, that would be great.

Take it out for a WOT run in 3rd gear, if it still has a bog and then runs strong, wrong spring.

You want a looser spring that allows the secondaries to open gradually as I recall.

When the secondaries opens suddenly, you'll notice a big bog in the engine as all of the sudden there's a great increase in air, then it'll recover and run strong.

When it opens gradually, it should follow the curve quite nicely and accelerate strong till you max out the flow of your setup. You shouldn't feel a thing until you're maxed out.

Hey Brad, no problem. I will put it in my car now, so as not to forget it.
As for the WOT, it seems o.k.Then again I didn't try it in 3rd gear, just o/d. I will try it out at the track. Maybe someone can see/hear it better than I can.
See ya tomorrow

The secondaries suddenly opening like they were before will be very dramatic, recall on your curves that great dip... that translates to an incredible loss of power as the engine was flooded with air. If you managed to eliminate that in a 3rd gear run on your car, then it should be fine.
