%#@%# stupid claybar... @#%@#% waste of time...
So I woke up around 12. Looked outside it was all wet, so I didn't want to drive down to the track.
I went to Canadian Tire, bought some car stuff. Blue Tire Tint, Mother's Claybar bundle, rim cleaner, etc. etc.
As I was cleaning my engine bay, I noticed some spots of "dirt" on my valve covers. I took a hose and pointed very very very low power at them so I wouldn't wet anything else. ****, this stuff wasn't coming off. I sprayed some degreaser, still wouldn't come off. I said screw it, put some pressure hose power onto it (I covered up everything around so it wouldn't get wet). All of a sudden I noticed more spots of "dirt". Aw ****, that wasn't dirt, that was me chipping the black paint off the valve covers with the pressured water! Crap now I got a few spots of metal on my valve covers, aw well.
Then my big project of the day. Claybar the entire car.
**** man, took me 2 hours to claybar the car. I used an entire bottle of showtime mother's detailer in the process. Then I used the mother's carnuba wax in the claybar package on my entire car. 4 Hours later, none of the **** I thought the claybar would get rid of went away. What a waste of time and money. Argh.
I also bought that blue tire tint ****, put it on my tires, and my tires aren't even sparkling blue. Argh! I would return the claybar but I used up everything in the packet. But I am definitely returning that ****ty tiretint ****.
Oh, and what else did I notice today... the clearcoat on my center caps is starting to peel. Argh!!!!!
But one good thing. My car is super clean. I mean... super super 6 hours of cleaning clean.

winter project
The claybar is a winter project -- or so says me. Need lotsa time to do it right.
When are you taking your Z off the road ? My Firebird is heading for storage on Thursday. It is Toyota time after that. Have you found a winter beater yet ?

IMHO,

Actually it looks pretty nice provided you don't put a super thick coat and you don't suffer from a heavy dust zone. It keeps the tires looking good for weeks even if the tint fades.
Would I buy it again.. not really.. for the price its not as great as it can be, it suffers from being able to pick up dust and if put on too thickly will be tossed off onto your gfx.
For now, I'm going back to the old spray it with armor all to keep them clean.

The clay bar is for a very specific purpose...just curious, why would you think you needed a clay bar in the first place? I'm just asking cause so many people use the clay bar without even knowing what it's for, they just use it because they think they're supposed to. As Palric mentioned, the clay bar requires a lot of time to be able to use it right...and a lot of practise. Otherwise you can make your paint look worst than it did before.
And blue tint? Please! You might as well just put an SIR sticker on the back of your car!

It has several purposes but to give it a short and sweet description, it's for removing paint imperfections. As described by Mother's "Created to lift the particulate debris and contaminants that washing can't, our exclusive Paint Saving System will remove embedded grains of metal, tree sap, airborne environmental deposits and paint overspray."
I had a lot of very tiny tiny black dots all over my paint that I believe was probably from the days that I used to park at the GO station. If you looked close you could see and feel them. The clay bar took care of it all and it hasn't come back over the last year.
