Ahhh my service engine light turned on!!!
Coming home tonight driving in 5th gear, no traffic around, just cruising, and my service engine light turned on! checked my oil, it's fine... checked for leaks, none anywhere, don't see anything.l
only thing that i know is wrong with my car is that i have an intake manifold leak... need a new gasket...
the only other thing different tonight also was i was driving around without my throttle body plate cuz i'm chroming it downstairs...
any ideas? i freaked out!

Remember when I was telling you the cheap and easy way to figure out ses codes?
I don't know if I should give you instructions though... car's safety in mind, its ok if you get shocked hehe
j/k
If you look under the dash near the center console you'll see you ALDL.
DO NOT CRANK YOUR ENGINE AT ANY TIME WITH THE PINS SHORTED
Short pins BA
xxxxBA
xxxxxx
Now bring your key to the ignition on position and your SES light should flash.
First code will be code 12, shown 3 times then any codes in memory then cycle back to code 12.
1 flash a short pause, then 2 flashes, a pause
3 times
Flash......Flash..Flash
Flash......Flash..Flash
Flash......Flash..Flash
Figure out what code it is, then check here for what it means. I have a day off tomorrow, so give me a shout if you need a hand.

before you bust a nut doing what Slade1000 said..re-install the TB plate..youre getting a vac leak and a bad signal to the MAF..If that doesnt work then do what he said..lol

Yeah, that vacuum fluid is nasty stuff, thats why I store my extra vacuum fluid safely outta reach of my shorties. Its in the locked cabinet in the garage right next to my can of spotted paint and my left handed screwdrivers

Daz, he doesn't have a MAF sensor, he has MAP sensor.

and whatever you do DON"T mix up the vacuum fluid and the flasher fluid! the bottles look very similar!
i ran out of flasher fluid once (signal canceller didn't work) and filled the tub with vacuum fluid by mistake. at the next stoplight, my brake lights nearly imploded! i had to have the whole system pressure purged! nearly blew by SOTP gauge off!

Accelz, I was always told if you have the pins shorted and you crank, the ecm gets fried since you've fooled it into diagnostic mode. Any takers for testing this theory out? lol
He has speed density. No maf, just map. A vacuum leak wouldn't bother the ecm as I recall about speed density. Sure it'll mess with your power but not much.
I do think its a code 32 egr though, since that always seems suspect to f-ing up. I asked him the conditions he was running and he said consistent rpm, 100 km/h 5th gear. Sounds just like the time an egr code would pop up.
Since he was cleaning up around the bay, he may have just knocked a vacuum tube or something to it.

Vacuum fluid ? A can of compression ?
HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA
Now that is funny !!!
By-the-way, the EGR runs a vac line to the underside towards the driver side of the TB. It is easily visible from the driver's fender. It has an "L" bend and gets knocked off when I do any work around the TB then flashes codes 10-15 minutes into a test drive. Might be your case -- check it out.

so.. now that I know what the problem is... how do I get rid of it?!?!?!
BTW, now when I start my car the SES light doesn't turn on... but when I run the codes it still has a code 32...

Slade can help with this. It's a fuse in the engine bay located by the battery. It's hard to describe but bascially, try looking for something smal enought to look like a fuse with a black shell around it(bad description, I know). Find it, pull out the fuse for about 30 seconds. Then put it back in and check for codes. Should be erased. I think even diconedting the battery works. Try that first. Then try the fuse. Or is it the other way around??

a bottle of code remover and a lint free cloth should do the trick - maybe a bit of touch up with some warm soapy water after...
or, assuming you've fixed the leak, disconnect the battery for a few minutes to reset the computer. i believe the code will stay in memory until you do this, problem or no...
